Lancing Model Show, 2010

"MSW crew-mate Peter Fulgoney (peterf) shares a gallery of images of his recent visit to the Lancing Model Show, 2010, Lancing Sussex, in this MSW Show report!"

Another good event for ship modelers is the Lancing Model Show, in Lancing, West Sussex, England. There is a strong bias towards aircraft, and armor models at the show, with ships as an afterthought... but Rob Kernaghan (RKernaghan), Jim Smith (Freighter), and myself gave a very good showing on behalf of us ship fans, and we were there to give strong support to our chosen hobby.

The pictures shown illustrate this, and include our tables in a very central and well lit position. In detail there are Jim's Marus, Rob's Gneisenau as planned, and his paddle steamer Gracie Fields. I brought along two new builds, Ft, Drum, and HMS Tiger - Dogger Bank version.

The Aviation Bookstore run by Wendy Myers, and on line, was the focus for our pocket money...and I provided the team with gammon ciabatta cheese rolls, and Rioja. It's only a small venue, but admission is free so we hope to see you there next year to chat about ships and ship modeling!

Hi Peter It's good to see some very fine ship modeling, even if it is on a small show! Very good display, with very unique ship models Glad to see that Rob and Jim helping to man the tables and also bringing their models! Cheers, Rui

Beautiful work, Peter! I am especially impressed with the Tiger and the weathering on the Ft. Drum concrete. Could we press you for a feature? --Karl

The admission is free, but getting there would cost me a few grand! It looks like it was a neat show!

What scale is that Tiger. i have always been interested in the WW1 era capital ships. Thought about doing a 1:1200 set but those have gotten rather costly as of late and the detail leaves much to be disired.

Hi Steve I would say 1/700 and from the water base, I would guess that it is Peter Fulgoney's work! Cheers Rui

Aye Aye skipper Rui, it is my 700 scale Tiger which I am working on right now. It is the Combrig kit, and includes a fair amount of photoetch off the WEM fret. I will post pictures of this, and Ft Drum as soon as these are completed. Ft Drum is out of the box so far but there area number of additions I would like to do - see also the "Big Guns Campaign" on this website for more pictures and talking. All the best to everyone.
