Landing Craft Personnel (Ramped)

Introduction

The first of the boats in this feature was built using the old Monogram kit and the second boat was built using the re-released Revell of Germany kit, which is basically a re-pop of the original Monogram offering.

Unfortunately both kits are about 4 foot short of actual length. That said they are the only game in town in 1.35 scale at the moment. Detail on the kits is a bit light and both lack the mid section internal doors. I had though about adding these but without decent pictures or a drawing to work form they remain 'something for later'.

LCP (R) USN

This boat originally featured in my Landing Craft trio article, one of the first I did for the site. It depicts the armoured version of the LCP(R) as used on D Day. Some recently acquired photographs of the boat showed a number of improvements that could be made to the original effort. This included some internal ribs, extending the surround to include the stern section of the well and adding access doors to the gun tubs. Some additional U Models life jackets also made their way into the well.

The bulk of the figures came from standard or converted Tamiya items with the radioman being Verlinden.
