Hey all,
I think I'll be doing the SS hope in the "No guns allowed" campaign but I was going to do her in the original name of USS Consolation, first hospital ship to be fitted with a helicopter pad. I have a couple of pics;
can some one tell me what types of helicopters those are in the phot's?

That's an excellent idea, ang gives me a thought for another. The Brittanic, sister to Olympic and Titanic, was used as a hospital ship in WWI. With a white hull with green stripes and crosses she makes a pretty interesting site. Any decent Titanic kit could probably be modified to represent her.

Rodger just stay away from that Academy 350 scale version. Man that was a real nightmare build...poor fit and all sorts of small parts that would have been much better molded on the deck

Hey all,
I just received the kit today and I was wondering if any one could tell me what scale this might be. Its the "SS HOPE, boxed by AHM" and I can't seem to find any info out on this kit. So if some one can give me a heads up on it I would be most happy.
P.s. I think gunny may be happy because its a smaller model(might be a 1/700).

Frank,
Look on the instructions, between the AHM logo and the picture of the ship. It says it is 1/471 scale. (pretty close to 1/500, for all intents and purposes.)
And yes, this is one of several Revell kits that AHM re-boxed in the 1970's.

I remember that kit, I don't think I ever built it. Man Frank you are going to have a devil of a time trying to find the Sikorsky helicopter in that scale.

Blaster,
I know a guy that does some small stuff, 1/500, aircraft and I sent him an e-mail seeing if he can do something or knows where to get a chopper like that. matt stien models (www.usscasimirpulaski.com). He's a great guy (submarine dude) and he also helps run "modelfleet.com".

Skipper,
Pretty close but the kit I have was called SS Hope. Thanks Rick, I haven't taken the plastic off the box yet. So I'll start preparing for a NOV build on this kit.
Does any one know if this "Sikorsky HSS SEABAT" could work as a chopper? I haven't done the research yet just tossing out the idea.

I just did some quick research and the US Army used the CH-34 "Choctaw" which was their version of the "seabat" and it was used to transport troops so I'm thinking they could also use it for wounded.....some thing to think about......
