Looks very nice. It does seem to me that those .50 mgs just cry out for a good resin kit. The PE additions to those guns seem to be trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear.
I really am looking forward to getting, and building, the 1/72 PT 109 and Vosper PT, to go along with the S-boote I have now, which of course is still waiting to be built. Those three should make a nice little display on the shelf.

Is this set for the Airfix or Revell boat or will it fit either?
Posted: Wednesday, July 04, 2007 - 03:14 AM UTC
Hi John,
I was thinking the same, but looking at the instruction sheet it say's Revell.
Ciao

Yep
The Airfix Vosper is a completely different story
But it's good to see that someone (in this case Eduard) started picking up those old models that just needed a good PE set, if you were not a good scratchbuilder guy!
Good news,
Skipper

I didn't know about the Revel kit. I was looking at the article and was perplexd as my Vosper had 4 torpedoes and a twin 20mm on the front. Is the Revell kit better than the Airfix kit. I (unbelievably) am still working on it and may actually fnish the assembly after 10 years. I like PT boats and if the Revell isn't a dog may pick one up. I have never see this kit before. It kind of looks like the one they used in McHale's Navy

Blaster,
The revell kit was based on the McHales navy boat. It closely resembles the Vospers that were made in the States and sold to Russia. I belive the weapons are based on the british weapons(machine guns, torpedo tubes).

Well here is a kick. I don't think the Revell kit is even out there. Checked all the usual suspects and the only two Vosper kits I came across were the old Airfix and the Tamiya modern day version. Maybe Eduard knows something we don't like a re-release

Revell-Germany still have it on their catalog... and it's available in most European online modelshops

Steve there are two listed on ebay, buy it now for $13.97, and if you do a search for it on Froogle.com there are few more.

Steve, Trident has them listed for around $10 here in the States.

With the setup the way it is, I almost resembles a Higgins torpedo boat.

Nope. This is correct for the Soviet boats. The gun mounts are the standard MK10 20mm and MK17 .50 cal., while the tubes are the Higgins-built MK19.

Thanks for the info guys. GLad to know this kit is still out there and not at some incredibly ridiculous price.
