Photo-etch users, listen up!
Here is a new product, available now from Gators Paint Mask, a definite (and possibly superior) alternative to the standard adhesives currently available for attaching brass PE, introducing, "Gator Glue"!

As you have used it, how does it hold up to plastic on plastic gluing?

Hey Steve...
Works on plastic to plastic as well, and plastic to resin, resin to resin, brass to resin, brass to plastic...I'm still playing with the stuff, but it sure looks like a winner, from this end...

I am taking orders now.

Wow...let me finish using all ths junk I've got now and I'll be popping out an order. I know this sounds a little far fetched, but maybe you could send Keith a sample and he can stock it in his hobby shop. We've got a club meeting next Saturday and he usually is in or the store manager (who works for Keith or Jim who does a ot of the ordering)

Hey guys!
Based on the review and the personal "I got's it and it's great!," I'll be getting some myself. However, is this Review cross-linked to the other KM sites? I only ran across this link here becaused I posed a quest(ion) regarding thoughts on a battleship/cruiser/destroyer kit.
I know the Treadheads and Flyboys would be interested.

You won't be disappointed, Mike...I know my Jim Rae syndicated it over at Armorama, but I haven't seen it on the others...

A word of advice to those in northern climates: Gator Glue does not respond well to freezing weather
I was looking forward to trying this out after reading about it here. PE is the bane of my existence, but I think I will wait until spring before placing another order.
I am not sure at what temp the glue freezes, but it has been &^%$( COLD here ( -25C or -13F for my American buds), and it being a water based product, I am not surprised it arrived at my door in a solid-state. Unfortuneately, after thawing, the glue has separated into a chunky almost crystal like mass, and a liquid (probably H2O). It is, sadly, unusable..

WOW !!! That is a bummer. You might try warming it up to 80 (F) and stirring it to see if it will remix. Do you have the same problem with Acrylic paints?

hello all,
i checked my Gator Glue on the workbench, and it also is starting to seperate.i moved it to the warmest room of the house, and will check it everday.my acrylic paints will seperate if they get to cold, about 20 degrees F,so they all are always in the warm room.
cheers,
Bruce

Hmmm, a very valid point made here, mates...and one that I quite honestly didn't consider when I was testing the product.
In all actuality, most any chemical compound that contains any natural or man made liquid component will freeze or thicken (except glycol, alcohol and other "ol" type based products), especially acrylic based products, and seperate, unfortunately (I'm by no means a chemist in any manner, but real life experience(s) has taught me this fact! )
What I would like to know is if Steve's suggestion of warming up and re-mixing would bring it back to a useable state, though, or if some sort of chemical reaction upon freezing makes it unable to be brought back to a soluable state...

Ahoy mates.
Living in Southwest Louisiana, I never considered glue freezing. We'll go from 50 degrees for a high to 80 degrees overnight. I'll pop a bottle of GG in the freezer this weekend and thaw it and see what happens.

Hi Kenny, cheers for the refund on the glue. That says a lot about your business ethic. I know a lot of armour modellers up here are interested in gator glue, and I'm sure once the weather warms up we'll all be ordering some. I've tossed about a half dozen barely used bottles of CA glue in the last year and have just about sworn off resin & PE as a result
About the reheating, I did try that. I even brought it to a near boil. Freezing appears to have permanently changed the glue at a molecular level. That being said, I still prefer to work with non-solvent based materials.
