Hey guys. Does anyone know of 1/72 American Civil War sailor figures? I would like to put some figures with my CSS David.

Geez...great question, Ken, but I do believe that you may have to make a modification...how are ya at sculpting?

Can’t say off the top of my head but I think I’ve seen a set or 2 for navel guns that had figures with them. I’m assuming they would have been navy.

I’ll keep my eyes out for them.

I'm not very good at sculpting figures. The only 1/72 figures close to what I need are the dumpy little wargaming figures. Great detail, just a little cartoonish. I was thinking of using the Verlinden 54mm ACW sailor and officer set, but I don't know if it would look right.

I've got some WW2 Brit figures left over from my Vosper. YOu may be able to do something with them. Bad thing is, they are one piece and have steel pots on their head

Hat do a set of Napoleonic British sailors and marines

Don't know if any of those might be useful, probably not the Royal Navy marines I would guess.

What do you guys think of these?

This is what I'm looking for, except in 1/72.

I'm going to go down to the local Hobby Lobby and see what they have in the way of the 1/72 Civil War figures. I'll pick the closest and then start to modify four figures.

After a trip to Hobby Lobby, I think I've got everything I need to make a captain, pilot, assistant engineer and seaman. The only small ACW figure kits I could find were cavalry, so I had to get the big kahuna - 170 figures, numerous horses, two limbers and 6 cannon. All for $11.00, with my 40% off coupon.

Heck, I may have enough to crew the Alabama or Kearsage!
