No I'm not talking about the one you get when you bring home more kits.
For my 1/72 PT boat I’m thinking of trying to give it a cold look.
I figured I’ld ask ahead of time before getting to the weathering and such stages.
Any advice on how to achieve a cold look on the boat? I was thinking of possibly trying to add a small amount of ice on it but I don’t where or if ice would form on a boat.
Any advice, tips, or ideas would be appreciated.

Some of our shipmates from across the pond may have some ideas. I believe I saw something about using white glue to make ice.

ice wuld hang from anything vertical and would probably bunch up aound fixtuers. I don't know if PT boats would have been in a position to ice up...except maybe some of the German S _Boots operating around northern Norway. Don't know a whole lot about where the Russians deployed theirs but I would surmize that Murmansk would have had some, maybe the Brits had some in Norther Ireland/Scotland as well.

Steve, they may have had PTs at Dutch Harbor.

Oops. Seem to have lost track of the post.
Gunny thanks for the link but I think that’s a bit more ice then i’ll need.
Guess I should have given more info. Its for the American PT boat I’m doing for the small craft campaign. (80' I think? I don’t know my boats.) I’m going for convoy petrols in the north Atlantic. Also it’ll be a full hull so I won’t have any water with it.
I’m thinking of a few ice sickles and frosted areas. Just don’t know were to put them or how to make them? Or would this not be realistic for a boat?
Thanks guys.

In art and figure modelling (not that ship modelling isn't art ) one of the methods of conveying temperature is the use of warm and cold colours. I'm sure that by painting your vessel in lighter colours or colours with a slight light blue or grey hue or tint you can further convery a sense of cool and cold.
Just a thought

Thanks Rudi.
I’ve already decided to paint the bottom of the boat black instead of red to help with that. ( I don’t know if its correct or not but I saw some models painted that way and went with it. )
I’ll try the see where else I may be able to modify colors.
