And it's time for another little update...

This time after some small and tedious task, not finished yet, like making the bridge breakwater/wind deflector... It sure gives another look on the bridge, but it is one of those tasks
Also have placed the Hedgehog and part of the aft structure (still missing the cover) and drilled the superstructures portholes.
Many thanks to Filipe Ramires for providing the Hedgehogs parts

(another sunny day here today!)

Nice neat work Rui!

It certainly is always a revelation when taking the transition from scarctbuilding kit parts to scratchbuilding the whole thing!

Well done

Skipper,
Outstanding job, as usual ! I had no doubt it would be. And thanks for the photo journal, it is always nice to watch a scratchbuild go from sheet plastic and drawings to a 3d model.
Keep up the Great work ! Semper Fi..........................Bruce

Thanks for the compliments, Harry!

Just a quick note, the single bofors shown are not the ones that are going to be fitted (never model when your body is saying go to bed, you're tired!!)
Yesterday morning I noticed that - fortunatly they were there just for the photo - not definetly :-) :-)
The proper ones are:
WEM PRO 7035 - Single 40mm Bofors Mk VII

Thanks,
Skipper

I am looking forward to seeing some paint on it.
The supports for the davits don’t look like they leave much room.?

Rui,
I really give you credit. I may play around in 1/144th scale, but scratchbuilding in 1/700th is another level altogether. I'm enjoying the running photo log and watching the build progress. I just wish mine would progress as fast.
Keep up the Great work ! Semper Fi ...........................Bruce

Hi Redshirt

Actually so do I
I am at a point where I need a little more, just to boost the morale!
The davits are away from the superstucture wall, the primed parts and deck just don't let it show (I hope that the photos uploaded today, show that!)

For Bruce and Rick
Thanks for the compliments. It's not that hard to work in this scale... it is a question of planning and good cutting skills - the infinite bad cut is highly noticeable here!

And I as I said, I needed a colourfull motivation. Since I don't want to start priming the ship again, I decided to attack the base. So here are a few more shots of it, in its element ) and with the mast almost finished (not attached to the ship) and another very small part scratch: The Winch!
Also repaired the bow to its correct shape, although I need to work a little bit on it.

Hope you enjoy the photos:

No critic Rui, I like what i see, you have done a really impressive job with that tiny boat -according of course that you work the water more than what you display on your pictures
Now we can only hope to see more of this level of model making amongst those forums

Thanks Jean-Bernard!
Coming from you it is a great compliment!

As for the water... The frigate will be at anchor at the river Tagus so... I'll keep it like that But some more surprises will appear. Also the fact that the photos are taken against the sun, you are not able to see what I have done in the water colours (tide changing)
I'll post more photos that shows that

Thank you, once again for your comments
Skipper

EDIT: The new photos

Excellent Rui, also really nice to see ships under the flag of different nations to those that we usually see.

Thank you so much Mike!
As one of my reference ship modelers, I feel very proud by your remarks!
And you just remembered me another problem: The flags!!
I have dozens of White Ensigns, Stars and Stripes, Soviet, Russian, Japanese and even Italian - but no Portuguese ones - I guess I have to do some computer graphics
Just need a jack and a national flag

Thanks once again for your input, Mike

Rui
If you get stuck let me know, I've just bought some inkjet decal paper and some fixer, I haven't tried it yet but can certainly try and run some off for you.

Hi Guys!!

Another (late) small update...
Apart from a lot of small ventilators all over (5 still missing) each one consisting of several steps to make, here are some more photos, with the Director (scratch) and the Mast (Modified PE and scracth) and some more PE bits here and there...
Although the major part of this built has been relatively easy, complex shape parts (like the Director) and modifying the PE parts has been the most difficult tasks so far.
Also the hull has all the needed portholes.
Still missing the Depth Charges trowers, racks and storage at the stern.
Ships boats are already selected (from various sources) and ready to start work on them.
Updates as soon as possible.

And now, the photos:
