Bruce,
I would like to stick to the dates I listed as much as possible. I picked 1992 because that is the year the Soviet Union was dissolved, and 1950 because of the Korean War.
Since the ZhuHai didn't go into full comission until 93 she wouldn't be allowed. However you could build her for the Sisters Campaign which starts in January.
Your other ship would fit right in with the this campaign.

Great! I've enlisted!
I have the 1/700 Dragon (Premium) HMS Liverpool, launched in 1982. This is an excellent reason to make me build her.
I presume that is a suitable kit?

Wet is for sure. More than once I got soaked on my ship by the hand of nature, not ym shipmates.

Greetings... I came back to the hobby some months ago (after 30year layoff!), currently working on the Revell PT 109 for the Small Crafts GB, will post pics soon, still figuring out how to take good pics!
Would love to join, not sure with what though! Maybe someone can recommend a good kit OOB (no PE), 350 scale for a newbie?
Do I need to finish the PT boat before I sign up for another build?
Thanks!

James,
I am pretty partial to either the Spruance class or Kidd class US Destroyers. There are also the Adams class for the US. Trumpter has a few Chinese and Russian destroyers. Heck, I am drawing a blank, but look at Great Models or Squadron in thier listings. If your curious if the kit you choose is included, feel free to give me a shout.

Thanks for the info... was just looking at the Nov Squadron catalog... couple Dragon 1:350 on sale, Arleigh Burke class IIA and Arleigh Burke DDG51... enough difference between them, 30$ each..some 1:700 scale at half price, and more selection... but im not good enough to deal with the smaller scale.. will check Squadron web site tomorrow when the new prices/sales roll over

cheers

For the time frame hte only Arleigh Burke ship that can be included is the Arleigh Burke. She was comissioned during the summer of 91 in Norfolk. We just made it back to port in time for the ceremony. Afterward she was tied to the pier for a while.

yes, forgot the time frame was until 92, not "modern"... figures all my time in the navy always a landlubber

(medical service corps)
Im down to either the 1:350 Dragon Arleigh Burke DDG-51 or go to the 1:700 scale with the Fujimi USS Cushing DD985. Do not know much about the Fujimi brand....

Don't forget about Ebay. I got my USS Kidd from there at a very reduced price.
If you are looking at 1/700 scale there are some nice British ships and other US ships in that scale.
Don't for get to enlist so we can get up to the official number of builders.

I had thought about doing an Adams class ship, I sitll might, just do the Germany version. Don't worry about messing tings up, I've done a good job at messing things up since I started modeling again.

You probably know this already, but the kit I picked up (Dragon 700) has those options:
Cartograf decals
Photo-etched parts (Ship railing, radars and more...)
Additional parts to build vessels that served in the German (Lutjens class), Australian (Perth class) and Greece navies.
Thanks again, looking forward to this build once it gets up and running! jim

hello all,
it looks like we are stuck on 11 signed up.i wonder if everyone likes the "sexy"ships better.for all the BB's,CV'sand CA's,you have to remember that with out the little friends the large ships would be growing coral on them.let's give the grayhounds some hard earned respect the earned.so sign up,who knows you might fall in love with them.i would hate to see a Carrier become a Submarine.
cheers to all that signed up,
Bruce
