Despite the fantastic paint job on the I-20, the guns look a little crude. I'm sure there will be a great aftermartket kit to remedy this. The I-53 (?) with the Kaiten looks super. Lindberg has always been kind of a joke to me, but these 2 kits look like serious entry's into the 72nd scale sub arena.

What, you mean you couldn't take seriously their Blue Devil destroyer, or the fantastic bathtub toy HMS Hood? (said with tongue firmly in cheek.)

These do look pretty decent. Not great, about on a par with Italeri, at least. They should look very good.

I'm not normally bothered by 1/72 subs but this could change things.

Now, where's the I-400?

Well - this was a VERY GOOD SURPRISE to me!
Not only Lindberg has made some aparently good models (although finished in a hurry - as the photos show) with a great potencial, but also included a Ko-Hyoteki midget sub and Kaiten IV manned torpedoes.
Looking forward to get these small beasts

Thanks for sharing Kenny!

To my knowledge, mate, nobody from Lindberg was there to represent the company (I didn't see any!)...and I haven't heard much of late about the subs, as well...

Caswell Model / D&E Miniatures has been working with Lindberg towards an RC conversion kit. Last I heard the kits are due to be out this October.

hi guy's, just joined your forum, I am currently working on the Lindberg I53 , what a piece of junk the whole sub is wrong, it's not a C3 class at all it is a KD3 class and even then they messed it up, I am currently converting it to a B1 class with catapult and a Glenn recon plane as the I29, she did the recce over Sydney before the midget sub attacks. And she was only 1 of 4 sub's that went to Lorrient France, while she was there they they removed her deck gun anfd 25mm anti aircraft gun and replaced them with a quad20mm flack 38 and a twin 37mm flack gun, so she should look quite good whan she is finished will add some pics of the bow and stern next time when i have learnt how to, damn this new technology, so hope to here from someone soon.

Ahoy Andrew,
Welcome to Model Shipwrights mate!

You will find that our members are some of the most friendly and helpful salts that you will ever find on the net, my friend, and we're looking forward to seeing some of your work!

You can even start your very own "BLOG" here at MSW, and share your build completely in text and images, like this one, and cover all of the good, bad and the ugly about your build....the Lindberg I53 Sub does present a challenge or two, now doesn't she?...

Take some time and cruise the site, to get aquainted with the surroundings and inner workings, we have alot to offer here...and if you have any questions or problems, please feel free to ask, our members will be glad to guide you in the right direction!

Cheers,
~Gunny

Hi, I am working on I-53 Lindberk kit for months. This kit requires me to study a lot to find out the details. Myself is continuing to complete it as I-53 modifing many parts. You will be albe to find out some of my work of parts entering into my blog. http://impulseblue.spaces.live.com/ Sorry it is only Japanese words. But you can see photo pictures.
The completion of hull will be expected in this summer.
I want to uploard the picture once she is completed.
Best regards,
Peter

Ahoy Andrew & Peter,
Welcome to MSW......Just the greatest bunch of people here....enjoy!

My main area of focus is the Kriegsmarine and mostly u boats however
I did recently acquire the Nichimo I-19 and gathering info for a future build.

Really looking forward to seeing pics of your Japanese subs and the
corrections as I have heard there are many to be done.

It is just to bad that Lindberg goes to all the trouble of bringing such
great subjects and messes up.

Any suggests on reference material on the B1 class?
Have a great day and happy modeling!
Joe
