On a personal note, we’ve been watching the scar tissue on Ian’s head for the last week because it was showing signs of thinning again. We have a doctor’s appointment in New Orleans tomorrow and I’ll give y’all a report tomorrow night.

That's all for now from the news desk. Remember, if you can't get to your bench and build, at least you can talk about it.

I worked on The Sullivans all weekend and finished her, as much as I ever finish for the Leyte Gulf campaign. I posted on the thread, but now need to post on the gallery. I need to learn how to use my new camera better, especially the macro zoom.

Played with my new grand son a bit. I even introduced him to the model aisle of Hobby Lobby. I wheeled him next to my modeling desk while I was working to start him out right. I made sure there were no open chemicals that might harm him, and opened the window wide to be safe.

Had fun listening to Air Force beat Army.

Well, this weekend started out like most weekends have for the past few weeks. Friday I had time off while my wife was at chemo, so I took some pictures at Lake Lanier in NE Georgia. The lake is currently 15' below full pool and dropping every day.

Saturday we took a drive up to Gatlinburg TN and visited the wonderful aquarium up there. We took along one of her friends along for the ride. The fall colors were on the downwards side of peak, but they were still beautiful. It gave me a chance to try out my new camera and see what I can do with it.

Sunday was a work day around the house and in the afternoon we went to see Saw IV. I wanted to watch American Gangster, but it was 2 to 1.

On the modeling front, I did get a good deal of work done on a project I am working on over in the armor boards. Yes, the Cold War Tin Cans Campaign is a go, so by all means enlist and lets build some destroyers. I'm not 100% for sure what I am building, but I know it will be a German ship.

Below are a couple pictures I took over the weekend. I entered the top picture in a local photo contest.

In the NCAA, #972-ranked University of Washington broke a six game losing streak by beating the team that beat USC!!! (You can't imagine how long a six game losing streak is - it goes on for lifetimes. Ask a Northwestern alum)

And in my workshop, I finally got my SOTQ project, USS Navarro, moving along to the 50% marker. Camera is iffy - will have to see about that after work tonight.

Hey all,

Didn't get any bench time this weekend. I had a 3 day weekend off from work and we went out of town and spent some money(always fun). I'll try to get bench this week.

Ahoy Shipmates

It was a full on weekend for me (kids touch rugby) but I put the finishing touches to the mighty IHJ Isuzu.

I have posted the pictures on the camapign thread but (coz I can't resist) here is another one:

Overall I am very pleased the way she turned out. Whilst not perfect its a huge improvement from my previous effort and I finished her.

I have cleared the benchtop and I am into the E-Boat now.

Cheers

hello all,
this weekend i spent helping Matt (Lsniper) firm up a campaign proposal on the armor site.if is blitzkrieg the early years Sept1,1939-May1,1941.we decided to to see if we could get the Air and Ship guys involved.i think that a RN destroyer picking up troops off of Dunkirk would be a neat dio.on the ship front ordered the Severn Class LIfe Boat for the no guns allowed campaign.i also started to gather sticks for a raft for the same campaign.i also worked on my Grant for the under new management campaign,[plus watching the football games].busy,busy,busy.i loved the pictures Jim posted.nice destroyer, Sean.
cheers to all

Bruce,
Also remember the German Naval forces in Norway and the invasion of Poland. I think there could be plenty of naval tie ins with the Blitz campaign.

I like the idea since I am narrowing my armor focus to early war armor. Hope you guys get a big group of builders. If you need help with a banner or ribbon let me know.

Didn't do much modeling this weekend. Working on a P-61 Black Widow in 48th. Had a cockpit detail set to work into it, so I wrapped that up and probably this week put the fusealage together.

Watched LSU knock Alabama all over the field. If it weren't for LSU's ineptitude (15 penalties for something like 140 yards) Bama would have been mauled. They did play well defensively though getting 3 interceptions and having one that was good overruled. As Kenny said...it was thrilling as the luck of the teams went up and down and the game wasn't decided until the last minute. I am hoping LSU will run the table and get the national championship. Just hoping Bama will beat Auburn this year.

Hi All

I run the risk of being burnt at the stake for this but here goes,

I spent most of my modeling time this weekend working on a SPAD XIII in 1/32 scale, the particular aircraft (There I said it, Aircraft) was flown by Sgt Fernand Chavannes of SPA112 during August 1918, it has a large white spider painted on the rear decking with a fly bearing black crosses caught in its web, all of the markings have been masked and painted, no decals.

To redeem myself I also put the finishing touches to my Modern German Navy Type 212 A U-Boot as well as doing a little work on the Japanese Midget submarine just released by Finemoulds.

Jim nice pictures,

Jean Bernard, looking good my friend looking good.

Not much time to model, I'm affraid - which made a little set back on my Leyte Gulf entry finishing, but it was for a good reason!
Excellent Autumn colours you catch Jim!
Jean-Bernard, excellent rust effects - I guess it needs some laundry
Sean - congratulations on your IJN Izusu - does feel good to finish one model, right?
Kenny congrats on a wonderfully runned Campaign

Skipper,
I was glad I had the 4 meg card in the camera. I got a good deal of junk photos. I think I had about 5 out fo 120 that were decent.

Jean-Bernard - You would never know that is not actual metal rusting.
