First thanks to everyone who helped me on my previous post. The second mystery I need to solve is how to model a moving prop for a 1/700 scale aircraft. I have seen it done in some photos but their was no instructions on how? Thanks in advance.

At that size, I would guess the use of clear acetate. Smudge it with pastels to give the impression of prop blades.

what is acetate and where can I get it? I'm realitively new to advanced modeling techniques.

Acetate is clear plastic sheets used for overhead projectors. it comes in individual sheets like paper and probably the least expensive route would be to check Wal-Mart first and if they do not carry it then Office Dept or the like would definitely have it. It's thin and will cut easily with a pair of scissors. Hope this helps

Thanks Steve. I'll give it a try. I'm building the U.S.S. Hancock from Trumpeter in 1/700 and its my first attempt in this scale. I'll try to post a builders blog or something as I go along.
