Ahoy mates!
After giving us a sneak peek at the Tokyo show, Fujimi officially announces the release of the 1/350 IJN Kongo. Take a look at the test shots from the Fujimi factory.

1. I am of course thrilled at any new injection molded 350 scale ship that comes out, and the Kongo is a great choice
2. Looking at the prebuild pictures it appears that Fujimi took their 700 scale kit and pantographed it into a 350 scale. The detailing is adequate but not awe inspiring like Hasegawa's Nagato. Of course the upside is a good PE set from Gold Medal will probably addess this issue.
3. My hopes are that these folks will not want $160 - 180 for the kit either, keeping it down to $110-120 range.

I was going to mention this yesterday but it was November 13th, the 65th anniversary of the First Naval Battle of Guadalcanal, and today is the 14th, the anniversary of the Second N.B.G. where Hiei and Kirishima were sunk in 1942. Hopefully they will also release kits of these two great ships, that really more interesting careers than the Kongo.
I'm with you, I hope the price on this one is a bit more reasonable.

According to the Fujimi website, an April delivery is planned for this kit.
Note: It's in Japanese but they have a few more images.
