hello All,
i submitted a new campaign to Mark (Gunny)...it is a continuation of the PreDreadnought campaign. What the campaign is about, is you can build any Ship, of any Nation that fought in World War 1, ie:Sub attacking a convoy, The Coronel/Falkland Battle on Oct.12,1914, or the Battle of Jutland in 1916.
http://modelshipwrights.kitmaker.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=Campaigns&file=index&req=showcontent&id=241The campaign will start in May 15, 2009 to, Feb.15 2010... i know that this is 18 months away, so we can think and talk about it.
Cheers,
Bruce

I like it Bruce, makes sense, and would make for a good continuation...it is a long way off, but plenty of planning time, for sure!

18 months? Good! That gives me time to save enough for a WW1 British ship.
There don't seem to be many plastic ones out there... Or am I wrong?

hello All,
Well it looks like some intrest in this.Mark,i like it when a campaign can be tied into another one.that way if you don not finish a multible build you can use it on the next campaign.
Harry, that looks great, keep us updated on your plans for the ship.
Well we got 4 people signed and it was just posted.good show.i wonder it the modelers on the otherside of the pond wants to sign up.
cheers,
Bruce

I'm in. I've been re-reading Massie's Castles of Steel and I've become interested in the cruisers of this period. Now I've an excuse to acquire one.

I am thinking of maybe doing the Zvezda Oriol 1:350 for the Pre-dreadnought part and the Revell Emden 1:350 for the WWI part? I have only been (re)-building for a year, I may not be good enough to pull it off, but can give it a try... love the idea of both campaigns in sequence.
a nice web site:
http://www.worldwar1.co.uk/"This site is mainly about the history of surface warship warfare between the Imperial German Navy and the British Royal Navy (RN) during World War 1 and includes information on the Battle of Jutland, Battle of Dogger Bank, Battle of Heligoland Bight, Battle of Coronel and the Battle of the Falklands, the scuttling of the German fleet at Scapa Flow, losses of battleships, battlecruisers, cruisers and destroyers and the war exploits of the cruisers Emden, Karlsruhe and Königsberg. Ahoy Bruce
I think you already know I am into this with my current love affair with dreadnought and predreadnought ships.
I already have the Emden "in stock"which I must do a review for (right Gunny?) and I can do that or as I am planning to invest in the ICM Konig as my Christmas gift I can do that.
So count me in big time Bruce.
Cheers

hello all,
in looking at differant online model shops,i found a neat one.it is called Pacific Front Models, they have it all from1/700 predreadnoughts to modern ships.they also carry alot of p.e .and a.m.they have some ship models that are very obscure ship models.looking at the sign up,we have 6 so far.just 4 more to make this a go.i am allready looking at the next continuation after this campaign.i call it between the wars ships.it will be any ship in any navy in use or built between Nov.12,1918 to Aug 30,1939.this campaign will start in 2010.
so lets get this one going,so we can build some pocket battleships.(yes,Gunny created a monster.)
cheers,
Bruce

Someone before asked about ICM's Konig... I found an info thread somewhere else, if you want, I can post the info and links. The jist is that the reviewer found the OOTB kit is actually only accurate for the Kronprinz sister-ship, and not the Konig (or Grosser Kurfurst or Markgraf); another said kit is accurate for Kronzprinz post -Jutland only

hello Kenny,
the HMS Agincourt is very immpressive.are you getting a P.E. for her also. She had 14 12inch guns, 20 6 inch guns,10 3 inch guns, and 3 21 inch torprdo tubes.at 30250 tons she could stream at 22 knots.she was launched as the Rio De Janeiro, then sold to Turkey who named her Sultan Osman 1.Winston Churchill seized her and then called her the HMS Agincourt.
cheers,

hello All,
well we have 7 people signed up.i know is about 16 months away,so lets see if we can get 3 more to sign up.remember it can be any Ship that, served in any Navy, during the First World War.this campaign will run 10 months, for us slow builders.
so how about 3 more people signing up.
The next part of my plan is a Campaign for any Ship, any Navy that was in service during the inter war years.that means the campaign will run between the years of 1919-1939.
cheers,
Bruce
