Late last night while dusting off some of the models disaster struck.
The 1/700 IJN Zuikaku fell from its shelf hitting a lower shelf and a then continuing down to land on top the 1/35 OIF Dio.
The OIF dio suffered miner damage and is already mostly repaired however the Zuikaku Had her deck torn off and suffered heavy damage to the guns and boats under the deck. To make matters worse one of the guns was even carried off by the carpet monster.
I’m hoping to get the ship rebuilt but I’m afraid she’ll never be quite as good again.

I have seen 700 scale accessory kits with replacement guns. You might research that a bit. There is more than one set out there and Pitroad comes to mind as a manufacturere. There may be others as well. We've all had disasters similar. I try to limit handling as much as I can, but there are times you need to look at something and just have to move it. I try to prepare a setdown area in advance to avoid mishaps.

Thanks Steve. I’ll see if io can find anything.

My problem is without glass doors for the shelf I have to get the dust cleaned off every so often.

Anyway here’s the aftermath of the disaster.

Well Jacob that sucks. I've had the wife drop a 5 cell mag light on my 90% finished-scratchbuilt LF 18 field gun.weeee. That took 2-3 weeks to find all the parts and redo.
Good luck on your redo. If it doesn't work out for you, you can build a folded newspaper boat that is slightly larger than the Zukaiku and give it a Viking funeral down at the nearest tidepool. Then buy yourself a new ship kit and know it was blessed by the plastic Gods!
Hope this made you feel better,
Rick

Sorry to hear about that. I've had the dreaded Cat Crawl attack. My cat walked around my display shelves and the landing gear on my A27 couldn't hold 7pounds. The branches on my Resupply tree could sway enough to hold off the tail.

Give the fix a try and then you always have the memories of the build. Thats why I take photos of all my kits.

Well crap Jacob. That stinks. Check Squadron's website because they have IJN kits with all the bits and pieces you need.
If all else fails, you did build the Zuikaku for Leyte Gulf campaign. Call it battle damage.

Guess I shouldn’t have built her for the campaign she was sunk in.
