I built the kit 3 years ago. I used the Tom's PE which had super PE and a couple of extra boxes of aircraft (Hellcats, Dauntlas, and Avenger) to fill up upper deck and put in hanger deck doors. I remember cutting out several doorway which I used a razor saw and sand paper to do. If i recall, the only gripe was that the deck depicted 2 catapaults and the Essex only had 1, but I think Trumpeter either corrected it or you just lived with it.. LIke Tracy said, there are 5 different kits out there , so most of the major vaiations are covered. I don't recall any major problems or fixes I had to contend with though I had heard that some had upper / lower hull matchup problems. You might thumb through some old Fine Scale modeling mags, there may be a build article in one of them, though they tends not to do a model on this scale for a build article
