MOst of us have dealt with these folks a few times. Most of the posts are complaints about how slow they are, yet n the end they end up getting their stuff. Well I jst had what I'll call a super fast for them. I ordered the kit on Tuesday ad it arrived on Saturday.I don't think they read our posts ike lucky models and HObby easy people do, but if so. Here's to you guys. Take a look at the sales on 350 scale ships they have. Oh and if anyone is interested, I saw an incredible price on a 350 scale NC. I think $50 with $15 shipping. Fellas, you can't beat that with a stick. Shoot then you can get a nice PE set and a set of Gator MAsks for it and still have money for a cup of coffee.

I agree, Steve...
I've had nothing but good relations with Great Models Webstore, their customer service team is top notch, and they are all about pleasing the customer...and their prices are good, too!

Wow. I've had nothing but bad luck with those guys so it's surprising to hear good comments about GM.
In my case. they take 2 weeks to respond to an email, that's if they reply at all. Plus, some of the items they list as "Instock" are not.

Wow, Steve...I am amazed, mate...every dealing that I've had with the folks at GMW has been positive...sorry to hear that you haven't had similar luck...

Very good service with GM
The one 'customer service' problem I had was dealt with immediately as soon as I emailed the owner. ( I tried all other channels to resolve the issue but the CSR's weren't being responsive and I felt they were blowing me off with excuses)
Once the (well documented) issue was brought to the attention of the owner, it was resolved within a couple days.
In retrospect I figure every service oriented store can have a bad day every so often...the key is how responsive they are.
I use GM of 75% of my online purchases.
Cheers,
Charles

I found that I can get stuff almost at half what GM charges at other places. The service I had was so bad that I refuse to do any business with them.

All my dealings over the years have been good & relatively fast. I think I had 1 bad item, but the labeling from the manufacturer was bad, so it's not GM's fault. The only one faster is WEM (with their SR-71 deliveried Stateside)!

GM gets 75% of my hobby money, never had a problem with them
and I am...
trying....
REALLY hard....
to ignore their current sale....
that includes LOTS of ships
As for "In Stock" items, it is not obvious when you BROWSE, but if you SEARCH, you can click the "only in stock" box. Also, once you add items to your shopping cart, you see red letters "in stock" next to items, and nothing next to other items. THOSE items are not in stock, but are available at different times.

Half the price, where are you ordering from? I have had very good service, they have always responded to my emails quickly, shipping speed is fine. My M4HST is due on Tuesday. I deal almost exclusively on line with Great Models and Squadron.

In the past I did find a couple items that were marked in stock, but were actually out of stock. I just stopped that order and ordered a substitute. Everyone will have their favorite place to order from. Some of us will have no problem and others will have problems. GM has a monster list of items and you can find just about anything there.
I use them a good deal along with Sprue Brothers and Pacific Front.

I've always had good luck dealing with them. The only time there was a problem was when my wife ordered the DML Tiger with zimmerit for me for Christmas last year and their stock went from 75 to 0 in one day. Her order was one on the ones that didn't get shipped, but they kept in touch, offered apologies, and as quickly as one could be found shipped it off.

Hi John,
Most of the kits that I buy I get from my LHS, unless it's a new kit that I'm dying for then I order it online from whomever has it available first. That place is usually luckymodel.com
Also, LHS in my area don't stock the stuff that I need (figure sets, PE, decals) so I have to order that online. Again, luckymodel.com is the place that I turn to. Here's why
Cheaper and free shipping. LM and GM are the only places that stock Hobbyfan figures. LM is usually half of what GM charges. An example
Hobbyfan M40 crew
LM - $18
GM - $36
Free shipping.
If you're modeling budget was tight, who would you order from? LM doesn't have free shipping on every item, but a lot of them. Also, when they say instock, it's in stock. Not so with GM. Also, it's takes 7-11 days to get something from LM and they're in China! I've waited two weeks just to get the email from GM saying they shipped the item.

I still order from Great Models, for example I placed an order on a Thursday, item in stock as they said, order received on Tuesday. If you don't want to deal with them fine, I don't want to deal with China. I also deal with Squadron, again, fast shipping, accurate orders, and I don't have to deal with China.
Now I know what you're going to say, if you buy Hobby Boss or DML you are dealing with China and thats true, but if you buy it from a stateside store at least some of the money is staying in the States.

Hi John,
Whoever you order from is fine. I just have a budget constraint. You asked where I get items for half of what GM charges. I have my financial priorites and so do you.
Take care,
Steve

Lucky models is perfect for ordering small items from. As they charge shipping per weight you get a great deal. But say you want one of those big Trumpeter 350 scale battleships. When all is said and done. It equals out. Sure ship is cheaper but with $30 + for shipping, Great MOdels $7.50 averages it out. Me, I order usually based on BEST overall deal. I get paint , brushes, and all other supplies form LHS as I need it NOW. I do get some models from them as I am in a club and get a 25% discount, and on kits that sit there for a while even better. But, I am pretty much at a point that I don't really want much. I have a ot of armor and short of the new 350 scale ships that are churning out, really am content. I mean hey how many Tiger tanks or Abrams are enough. Some of these guys want to build every freaking King Tiger ever made and buy 10 of every kit that comes out. Hey dude, whatever floats your boat. Me, I think grand toatl I have9 Tigers of every major variety from early Type 1 to Hunting Tiger. And don't get me started on the Sherman-a-holics..... LOL.
OK, Great MOdels lists things in stock, but you get to learn what in stock actually means. They get your order, process it a couple of days, determine that the item is not in the warehouse inventory per say,can usually get it a week or so after they order it, then they process again for a few more days. So yea, they take a couple of weeks. But if you are that impatient...go get it at your LHS. I have gotten 100 % of everything I ever ordered from Great MOdels as well as Easy HObby, Squadron, Spue Brthers, Easy hobby, and AAA hobbies at ebay.

I hear ya, Steve and I agree with a lot of it. I buy most of my kits, paints, brushes, glue from my LHS and Michaels. Unless I want a kit NOW, then I order it online of the LHS doesn't have it.
Most PE sets, resin figures I get online because the LHS never carries them or takes forever to order them. I'm still waiting for Maskol that I ordered from the LHS 3 years ago.
With free shipping to the US and half the price of what GM charges, I get the Hobbyfan stuff and other items from LM. Can't beat it.

I don’t have a LHS so I have to get my modeling supplies online.
I usually use GM anymore. They may take a week or 2 to get me what I need but I can usually wait that long. Plus I usually order things they have on sale as well. I’ve gotten some real good deals that way.
I only ever had a problem with them once (a back ordered item never got shipped even after coming back in stock.) All it took was a call and I got everything cleared up.
Just checked out Lucky models. They do look to have some good prices but even on a budget I have some issues ordering from china...
