Hi Anthony,

Based on Hasegawa's Nagato treatment, the base Akagi model will sell for $225 to $275, the photo-etch sets will all be extra, expect one set for the aircraft, one set for the railings and nets, one set for the island, one set for the hanger details and their super set with resin lifeboats, felt pads for the pedestals and brass name plate... all told expect to watch at least $400 of your hard earned dollars fly out of your wallet.... will I still buy one? you betcha!

I would love to jump on one of them now. It is going to be a great looking kit. Not to mention, expensive.

This is a highly anticipated kit. I imagine it will sell fairly well initially to those who have the money and have hankered after it. The problem is, at over $300, it will knock out several hundred thousand of us that just can't afford to go much beyond $150 or so. Heck, even Trumpeter's Nimitz and Tamiya's Enterprise supercarrier kits aren't over $200, even with the aftermarket PE stuff. I would love to get this one, but at twice the price I would be able to scrap together for a kit, it is out of the question, as is sadly their Nagato kit.

This is not for me. I mean, I would like a lot to have this model, but: model+2 or 3 photoetch "new politic"....probably will be more than 300 dollars... I have not this money for a plastic kit.
I don't know what Hasegawa pretend with these last superb 1:350 kits.... with superb prices...
With more than 300 dollars I could buy Hasegawa, Eduard and Tamiya 1/48 WWII propellers for the next 5 years. And I love airplanes too.
Hasegawa Akagi is not a kit for me. And just for PRICE reason.

They are pre-ordering it for possibly low as $185.00. For me I will build it OOB and be happy with it.All that photo-etch is too fiddley for me any way !! may be just some extra planes
