Does anyone know if Tom's or Gold Medal is planning to do a reasonable PE set for this Nagato. Maybe one that concentrates mainly on all the deck railings and a few other bits and pieces. I think it is outrrageous what Hasegawa did. Making 3 different sets and tying it in with a bunch of things then charging close to $160 for the stuff. Come on Tom, a good railing set on that kit is really all that is needed as they aren't even including the main deck in those 3 sets.

Steve,
The ship deck railings are included on P/E Basic set A ( HSG72115) and can be bought for $31.95
Lionroar do a pretty good set of generic1:350 IJN railings (350002) which cost $15.30
Aber (AB3508)have a very plain set of IJN railings on special for $5.40
All these prices are from Great Models.com

thanks. Just what the doctor ordered. My understanding of the Hasegawa set is that it did not do the main deck, only the upper decks. In any case it is twice the cost of the Lionroar whose quality I really like

Just got an eamil from Loren Perry at GMM> He informed me that they are presently finishing up their design for the San Francisco after which they will be doing a set for the Nagato which will have all the goodies I could want. Patience is all that is required and I have lots of that.

Peter Hall should be finishing the White Ensign Models PE set for the Nagato this coming week. It's looking like it will finish up as a 2-sheet set, both sheets A4 in size, and absolutely loaded. It will also be a LOT less expensive that the Hasegawa sets, probably in the neighborhood of 57.00 Pounds, AND it will ship post-free worldwide.

If your now talking about complete sets instead of just railings, I'd definitely go with Gold Medal or WEM sets. Nice as the Hasegawa P/E is (and that's what I used), it's way too overpriced and includes some useless stuff. eg. pads for the mounts, Japanese language nameplate.
