Hello mateys . I am trying to figure out what color to use on a ship I'm trying my hand at, the 1/700 Otori by Skywave. A part of the instructions for the deck of the ship says, Linoleum, and calls out linoleum as the color. What the heck is that. I use ModelMaster enamels in my building. Is there something in their color palatte that would be appropriate for linoleum? The box art shows a brown color...on a ship?? That can't be right. Any help?

Thanks much,
Mike

Ahoy Mike!

IMHO, the best choice for this build would be WEM colourcoats "IJN 10 LINOLEUM"...available from Snyder and Short here in the states...........take a look at Bob Cicconi's Furutaka for a great example....

Well I'll be darn...it IS brown. Thanks for the tip, Gunny. I've been meaning to try the WEM line. Guess this is a good time to dive in. Thanks again.

Cheers,
Mike

I heartily recommend WEM enamels. Their whole Colourcoat range are a result of paint chip samples. I try not to use anything else.

Linoleum is a reddish brown color. a Model masters equivalent is the signal braun you might use for the WW2 German tanks.

Thanks very much guys. Hum...I do have signalbraun in my paint drawer. Maybe I order the WEM for the next model, and go with what I have for this one.

Thanks for the assist. I'll post pics in a bit.

Cheers,
Mike
