I know I will not need a calculator to figure the odds of me getting that one. That is insane!

A BIG model of a BIG ship, for a modeler with a BIG house and a FAT wallet!
This could be a good museum model - or for the above mentioned BIG comment

I still like my 700th scale one
Cheers,

If you include the addition needed for the house, it could prove costly.

Worst thing is, that I actually have the room for it ..... oh I want it ..... but I know, I'm propably not going to like the pricetag ..... and I know for sure, that my Girlfriend won't

Burt darn ... a 1/144 Yamato and Akagi ..... that could be so awesome...... would be kind of ironic, that because I can't find IJN Carriers in 1/350, that I'd have to build them in 1/144

 Cheers

The Akagi in 350 scale has been announced by Hasegawa. A couple of years ago some company had a huge ready built Yamato, was that in 144 or 72., or maybe this is the same kit at long last released.
Oh and for the experts, in looking at the pictures I get the impression that there were AA batteries afixed to the fantail (those twin square mounts) Is this something new?

I'm finishing my Nichimo kit & now see this....

I would presume this is a new kit & not the existing resin display model now offered? Would be very nice to see in on the water as RC.
Looking forward to seeing the release date on this monster!

Does anyone care to hazard a guess at a ballpark figure for what this baby will cost?
The 1/35 Dora seemed quite reasonably priced to me, considering its massive size and limited run, so I'll be interested to see what this one weighs in at.

Considering the Akagi will tip close to $300, this has got to be over $400, and then there's the shipping costs to your friends house, cause your better half will be your dearly departed half if this gets seen at the front door!

Their 1/144 Bismarck is offered at €649 by Mondini & $999.00 in the States by Big-Tanks
http://www.big-tanks-plant.com/shop/index1.html Considering what we see here, I'd not be surprised if it goes for 20-30% more.

If you guys that are going to buy it ACTUALLY build it it won't be so expensive if you think of it. i would say that 18 months worth of evenings at least is needed for such a model to really come out the way it should.
Then spending some 1100$ for 18 months of hobby doesn't sound so ridiculous (the 100 extra for the paint!!)

Hi Gator - Any news as to the wehn, where and how of this 1/144 Yam's release to those of us here in the US?
After building a super-customized 1/200 Nichimo Ten-Go Yam last year, I am positively SALIVATING at the prospect of a 1/144 Soar Arts kit....
Thanks, and here's a link to my Nichimo:

Oh god its the dora all over again.
considering people got the dora I bet people will get this one to. just a matter of price now.
Of course short of winning the lottery between now and its release I won't be getting one.

*SNIP*

Dora? "Considering people got the Dora?" Is that supposed to mean that that silly railway gun is somehow more attractive than the greatest warship ever built? The one that's inspired the design of the Star Wars Imperial Cruisers and countless other sci fi vehicles?
"I bet people will get this one..."???? Well - *DUH* - as you might not know, once an individual starts reading about The Yamato, in the words of a Japanese historian - "it becomes an obsession". That's why there is an International Yamato Modeler's Association!
That Nichimo Yamato linked above is the first ship I built in 30 years(!) (and not a bad job considering that, wasn't it?). I put ALL my other hobby modeling on ice for most of last year.
I'll never build another ship - zero interest in the subject matter - ZIP.
EXCEPT that if and when Soar Arts puts this Yam out, you can block off the next 12-18 months in my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I'll be aiming at the IPMS Nationals competition when its done!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. You might call it "Yamato Madness". Read "A Glorious Way to Die: The Kamikazi Mission of the Battleship Yamato" by Russell Spur and "Requiem for the Yamato" by Mitsuru Yoshida (her only surviving bridge officer.
You'll be bitten.

Well, the odds of getting this one are about the same as me hitting the Megabucks Jackpot, of course it I ever do, I am sure that it would be high on the rather obese shopping list.

But I do like the crew lining the deck, although that third guy needs to straighten his cap and his shoes look atrocious!
