Has anyone modeled, or have pictures of a camo scheme including a "painted bow wave"? I guess the crew would actuually paint a fake bow wave onto the front of the ship to conceal a ships actual speed.
Sounds like a unique touch to add to a ship! I just started reading about it here www.shipcamoflage.com

WW2 German did it alot. I've seen Bismarck, Emden, and Gneisenau with it

Why yes, there could be a masks for such a scheme. The Indianapolis wore such a scheme.

You would have to do a specific mask for each ship as each one was different, at least in USN service. Additionally, not all of them had hard lines; St Louis' was feathered at the top to look like spray near the bow... you can see it sort of here, but Navsource will have a shot from the bow in a couple of weeks when I get to my cruiser files from a recent trip to NARA.
