It's here folks, and it's stunning! Give me a few hours and I'll have an out of box review ready for Mark to post.

Lucky dog!

I've been holding off getting one.
In reality, I would say this is one of the three most expected ships this year.

Ooh, Ooh, I want one!

Well my moriatorium from purchasing new kits has fallen victim to those evil Japanese Model Makers. Just can't pass up a monster like that.

Looking forward to that in box review, thanks for taking the time to do the leg work.

Just listening to the excitement over this one, I wonder what the reaction will be to the 350 scale they plan to release.

Group;

I picked this one up about two weeks ago. I have it sitting in my stash waiting to build it. I have one project on the bench (1/700 IJN Isuzu) and a another going into the slipway right after that (1/700 IJN Kongo).

The Akagi build will be for my own enjoyment. The other two are going as gifts to two IJN history buffs.

I have looked over the Akagi from forward to stern. The detail on the kit is outstanding. I also picked up the GMM IJN AC PE set and have it on stand by. I'm looking at the wooden deck option right now but will not pick it up for a while. I don't see this project starting till the fall. I would like to ask all of you and the ones that have built this kit a question.

Besides the basic PE set, would you have to do any cutting or scratchbuilding to bring this kit up to a showroom model?

I would hate to start cutting and chopping such a fine molded kit and risk the chance ruining this ship. What do you guys recommend? I have a few months of work on my other ships before I take this one one. I plan on spending a lot of time pouring over any build log info I could get my hands on.

Thanks

Sam
