Hi,

For a while now i would like to build the USS Texas and i'm not able to find a scale model of it in plastic.
I have found the resin 1/700 version by Samek, but that's like a 100 dollars.

I would like to know if you guys know of anything?
For example kit conversions, convert a new-york class battleship to the USS Texas? Maybe there is a USS New-York available.

Hope to hear from you guys.

Thanks,
Michel

Interesting that a model doesn't exist, because the ship still does. I'm not a ship builder, but would be interested in doing that particular one, simply because I live in Houston and have visited the ship several times.

Exactly what i mean, the Texas survived the first world war, then the second.
Is a veteran and should be done as a kit.
The USS Arizona is available, wich did not survive the Pearl Harbor attack.
I've read that it is possible to convert the USS Arizona into the Texas, but it's the exact same class, size, shape and the amount of barrels..so it needs 'some' work.

And i'm not willing to buy a 80 or 300 dollar Resin version.

What do you guys think, buy the arizona and try to convert it to the Texas and if that doesn't work, finish it and act like i didn't know better.

There is a Revell 1:720 USS Arizona and a Dragon 1:700 USS Arizona

The Samek model in 1/700 and the Iron Shipwright's model in 1/350th scale are the only ones of Texas that exist. Both are in resin.

I have the Samek kit and can testify that it is worth every penny of its price. You won't find many resin OR plastic kits that look as good in the box as that kit does, and you get photo etch with it.

I would suggest doing a scratch build of Texas before trying to convert an Arizona kit. The superstructure, number of turrets, hull shape; it's all completely different.
