How good is the 1/700 B Resina HMS Iron Duke kit compared to the Combrig kit? I'm looking for a subject for the WW1 Warships campaign. I'm currently reading "Castles of Steel" and I thought that I would build Jellicoe's flagship.

Hi Kenny

Don't know the difference between both models.. but I can tell you that the ones that I have from Kombrig are excellent
Perhaps someone can help you further on this issue (Peter Fulgoney, Rob Kernaghan...)

Not spoiling your fun there are also from the same period, two ships from Admiralty Modelworks (sorry), and my feelings is that they overtake all above mentioned in quality.

I've seen those Rui. A little out of my price range. Besides, there is something powerful about those 5 turrets on the Iron Duke that I like.

I have the Combrig kit, and it is EXCELLENT. From the reviews I've seen of the B-Resnia kits, their stuff is good. Personally, I'd go for the Combrig kit.

B-Resina kits are scaled down versions of the Airfix 1:600 kits of 60's and 70's vintage, so the quality is less than you would hope to expect from more recent resin releases. Iron Duke is one of the more recent Combrig releases, I don't have the kit but I would have to say there recent stuff is superb and extremely good value. So I would say Combrig, also B-Resina is now out of production so you may have difficulty finding one anyway.

Hey Kenny,

If you like the turret arrangement on the Iron Duke, then you should LOVE the one on the Agincourt!

Hi Kenny,

Great choice, she'll look great next to my Combrig Agincourt... this is one build I'm really looking forward to!

It's here!

My Kombrig 1/700 HMS Iron Duke. Actually, it came in a week ago. Wonderful kit. I'm gonna get the NNT barrels for it and see what photo etch is out there.

Looks great Kenny, does it come with a wee resin Jellicoe?

It should be a great campaign, can't wait to start it!

If you would like to check my Combrig built of Iron Duke at modelwarships gallery should give you an idea of the expected result.I only had to add the awnings and few small details in the bridge area like pipes , exta port holes but mainly built Out of the box.It is as with most of the combrig kits excellent casting and detailed.
