Did any VII B U-boats have their undersides painted red? I'm also looking for a good website with photos, plans and paint schemes of this type of U-boat.

As far as I know, there were no u-boats with red hull bottoms.

Thanks for the replies, you helped me make a pretty good model. This is the 1:700 scale Hobby Boss Uboat I just reviewed on the site. I'm certianly disappointed in myself for some aspects of my paint/build job, but for the most part it is pretty good. The camera brings out all the of flaws in my work. The model is based on several different photos I've seen over the years and not any one particular uboat. I kind of just did what I liked with the paint job.

Nice build and good work on the paintjob. Nice rigging too - but the flag is a bit on the large side.

I think your lower hull color is too light. Should have been the same dark grey as the bulges on the side. Other than that , I think your boot looks well constructed and detailed.

Thanks again for the replies and links. I've corrected the flag size, I make my own flags. I'm not sure I can redo the lower hul paint without damaging the upper details, but I'll see if I can.
