Hi all, I have the Revell 1/72 TypeVII / 41 kit half built, and have reached a stumbling block.
I'm detailing the schnorkel and the pit *for want of a better word* it folds into. I am struggling to find any detail shots of the inside of the pit and how the schnorkel hinge mechanism looks.
I have several books even blueprint but cant seem to tie them together convincingly. Revell's own rendition leaves so much to be desired....LOL
Any pointers or links would be greatly appreciated guys and girls. this is a showstopper on this kit I cant glue the decks down till I'm done.
Thanks all
Keith

When I get home from work - in a few hours, I“ll take a look in my referances - besides I have some photoes from U995 in Kiel that might be usable.
But I dont think you will find anything down there exept for a revised support for the casing and deck - maybe a cradle for snorkel and the pressurehull.
Cheers/Jan

Thanks Jan,
swift response It helps a little yes, I had wanted to model her with the schnorkel raised but too much pressure hull and such will be exposed I expect. Nice clear pics for my stash though

Keith,
Have a look at pages 70,69, 68,66& 65 of "Warship Pictorial No 27, the pictures found here might be of help. I will look further into my reference material for you.
One note of warning, if my memory is correct one of the boats which you are given decals for did not have the schnorkel fitted, again I will try and confirm the actual boat but again the memory of an old man can play tricks I think it was the one which carried the two seehunds on it upper deck.

Peter, thanks, that's a book I havent seen, off to amazon later
Thanks again Jan,
I revisited the kit last night and realised how far I had got before it got pushed aside......now I have to work out if I can live with the outsized tube covers and out of place anchor housing.
that will teach me for nosing through threads instead of working
