hello all,
i have discussed this with Mark and decided to let all of you know what is happening.
as some of you know,i have been doing rehab on the legs because of medical problems.last Thursday after my rehab visit,i had a MRI/CAT scan on my left knee.
it showed the the new joint was cracked in half and caused a massive infection in the joint.on Friday they took a sample of the infection and found out it was caused by a super bug that is Resistance to antibiotics.
on Monday i was suppose to have surgery on it.it was change to Tuesday at 0 dark thirty.i will not know if they can save the leg till i wake up.
if they take he leg, will lose it 4 inches above the knee, so with my eye patch over my blind left eye and a good wooden peg leg i will look like a "old salt" ,arr, shiver me timbers.
i might be gone from the site for a few days to few weeks or more.if i can get my laptop in,i can keep up with my responsibilities to the site.
i have asked Miss Mary to check on my campaigns and give updates on this thread if i take a turn for the worst.
i hope are of my shipmates have a great week and will be back to bugging you all soon
cheers,
Bruce

Hi Mark,
Just a little update on Bruce. The surgery went as well as it could. They took the bad joint out and got as much of the infection out by cutting out the dead tissue. They did not put the new joint back in. They are waiting to are sure the infection is gone.He had a slight Heart Attack during the operation but the Doctors are not worried about it for now.He is in Critical but Stable Condition for now.Once the Infection is gone, they will put a new knee joint in.
The only thing He has asked about is if His Campaigns are running OK. He feels like he has let all of you down by not being there for the People who have joined up.
I will print out all of your wishes for his recovery.I hope this will cheer Him up.
Thanks for everything,
Mary

Thanks for the update Mary. Tell him he is by no means letting us down. His concern right now should be getting well and not with his campaigns. We'll do what we can do on this end as long as he gets well.

I can only second that! - we miss him around, but want him back in good condition, so tell him to concentrate on getting well!

I offer my best wishes to you for a successful and speedy recovery. I had a big surgery this year (kidney transplant) and know the anxiety and concern these cause. You will be thought of and prayed for daily. Take care, and may you find fair winds and following seas.

Hi Mary and Bruce!

Mary,
Thank you so much for this update on Bruce's condition. I am sure he will get it trough successfully... Just need to have calm and patience to all needed interventions and soon he will be back ok!
That's what the family here wishes for!

Bruce,
Please don't need to worry about the Campaigns - we can handle them
You will be surprised with outcome of them and of course... you started them. Just think about new ideas for more campaigns, so that when you come back at full speed ahead, you can pest us with your thoughts

hello all,
i asked Mary to post this for me in regards to all of your thoughts and prayers and to post it the way i write,so here it goes.
the doc's said the heart attack was very minor and no damage was done.they think that they got all of the infection, but are waiting to see if it comes back.i am thankful that i did not take to many antibiotics over the years.it seems that not taking them is helping me fight it off.
if all goes well i get my new joint monday.more table time for me.once the joint is in i get to learn to walk again, but that is in the future.then i can get back and make a pest of myself again.
on the campaigns i was hoping that Kenny would look after the Gator navy for me(he is part Gator, right).the other ones are running along fine as far as i know.
i am sorry not be be there to help all of you who joined up,but i know that the staff has it well in hand.
it is funny, looking down at my leg and see a blank spot in the middle of it.
well got to "run" and you all have got alot to build, right.
cheers my Friends,
Bruce

Mark,
He is putting on a brave show. I almost lost him last night,a high temperature and another Heart Attack. The Doctors think he might make it now. But there was some long, bad hours before this afternoon. He keeps asking about the MSW,How"s everyone is doing,How can he help. I think that it will be a long time before he can do anything here at MSW.
I will let you know how everythng is going tomorrow. I need to get some sleep it has been a long 24 hours. I can get to a computer then.

To Mary:

Take it easy and rest too! You know that the best way you can help Bruce is if you are at your full capabilities. I also know that this is easier said than done, but you have our support (as much as you can get from this side of the Ocean).

I wish you a quick and complete recovery, Bruce. I'm sure MSW will be here when you are fully recovered - take care of yourself first. You sound like a lucky guy to have someone like Mary by your side. All the best to both of you.
