I want to build a nice 1/700 late war Yamato but there are a few different kits out there. One i heard was around 400 parts which if true is the one i am looking for....anyone know which kit this is??? All opinions welcome about which one builds into a nice representation of this famous ship...thanks

I highly recommend the new tooled Tamiya Yamato. It doesn't have 400 parts but the fit and detail it does have makes it a good starting base. Adding a few photoetch kits and some scratchbuilt stuff will easily put it over 400 parts. My build can be seen here.

i am building 2 versions (1941 and 1944).The Tamiya is very good but the new fuzimi yamato gives you the lower hull plus if it is the late war version all the portholes sealed were the the Tamiya kit simply uses the same hull with the early version and omits this altogether.

my 1944 so far

the 2 hulls ,top tamiya, bottom fuzimi

I kind of favored the Fujimi version as well, of course I built the original Tamiya way back when and I wanted a 1941 version for the difference.
