A year or so back I saw write up by a guy who found a quick and simple way to remove them, or actually fil them in. He used that Mr Surfacer 1000 spray. Put a light coat on and then sand it down gently. It fills in the lines and doesn't look bad. Just tape off what you don't want to spray. He said it only took a couple of hours. I plan to try it when I get arond to Nagato

That write up was on MW.com, in the "Calling All Nagato-class fans" thread. You can find it here.

Thanks for that Martin. Hopefully that will help a lot of folks, I know it will me. I know for a while they wre phasing out that Mr Surfacer and paint line in the US so I found it at Squadron shop last year when they had the Open House. One of the few Gunze Sanyo products they had left.

you can also order mr surfacer from lucky model... which is then shipped airmail labelled "models",, which I *think* circumvents the problems with mailing out Mr S.

I'm currently assembling the Hasegawa Mutsu and give the CAD lines a try, first time for me with putty, sanding and in fact masking tape. All in all it took me about 10 hours to get where I wanted, I'm not completely happy but blame this on the lack of experience. I'd do it again, it looks better.

For illustration I took a picture of the hull next to the Nagatos hull. I completed Nagato a few months ago without bothering with the hull lines. You can still see the lines on the Mutsu, but they are far harder to spot. Should also be noted that they are more visible on both models on the real thing.

You can see the improvement. I'll stick to the rattlecan version though. Hopefully it will take half the time.
