From Dragon/Hasegawa site:
http://www.dragonusaonline.com/item_detail.aspx?ItemCode=HAS40073A

I don't know about you, but this is some sticker shock. ~$700.00 for a boat kit? - and note the pricing for the wood deck item. Can it really be that good? And with the horrible drafting grid on the hull too (I hope not; no indication given)? On the other hand, a full-up 1/350 Akagi, with all PE and wood bought - and paid for - separately, with multiple shipping charges, would cost similar, if not more.
Note: kits of same ship with lesser PE/wood options, costing less, are available across a range down to $499.95, with the basic Nagato in 1944 mode with minor PE @ $299.95 pre-order "Special."

Man !!!!!!!!!!!! I sure hope this is not a foretelling of what is to come with future pricing. Of course I paid like $150 for the 1941 version I purchased a whle back. The Mutsu is from this year(1944) isn't it? I am sure it costs significantly less. Keep in mind unless they redid the original deck, you would have to carve away a lot of stuff to get that wooden deck to work. I think I have around $425 total sunk into my Akagi kit, maybe a bit more with the extra airplnes from Fujimi Well with this release, exect to see the price for original Nagato and Mutsu kits to fall.

Oh just for information. Tom's did a general Japanese battleship set that covers cranes, railings, catapaults and several other pretty neat goodies for around $40 I got one of those rather than the additional $200 for the basic a and b set offered by Hasegawa.

Mutsu exploded in 1943, the kit is 1941, I think. Doesn't matter really, since Mutsu wasn't changed much until her loss. But it is not 1944. I have the 1941 Nagato and will be getting the 1944 version as well. Shouldn't have gotten the 1941 version. Lionroar has a 1944 Nagato PE upgrade kit for the 1941 model and it's not that expensive.

I think that is the new pricing structure. Take a look at Dragon's DDs, they are up to the $49-$59 range. Cruisers seem to be $59-$129. Then the BB's look to be going for $200+. Carriers $250+.

Of course there is always 1/700 scale!!!

I am glad there are more 1/350 kits coming. With all the extra I am doing on the PC my eyes just do not seem to like the little stuff as much.

Well, I for one am pretty much fionished with Japanese BB's. I might opt for a Fuso / Yamshiro when they get around to her......carriers I've got Akagi and Shokaku as well as the 3 US ones and the 2 nuc carriers. Got a pre-order in for the Myoko. Could use a few DD's but they are still under $70 So just waiting to see what Trumpeter is gpoing to let loose over the next year or two So $700 for a 1944 Nagato is absolutly nuts in my book. I have the "old" Nagato which I probably start in a few (literally) years... bookmarked the CAD lines fix... no interest in the other ones at those prices! Do you know the Tom's Pe number for that item(s)? I need to put that on my TOGET list, I cant get myself to order 200$ worth of PE for one ship.....

The Tom's set is like $22 at Great Models. Just do the manufacturer's search and check out the Tom's Modelworks section
