Thanks for the review. Where (and when) did you get this kit? It's sold out almost everywhere I looked, couldn't find one in Europe.

From my experiences with the sister ships I agree that this makes a nice model, but it does have some shortcomings. I still like to look at them, so it's not that bad after all.

Didnīt find any european shop selling the item. However, Internethobbies seems to have the kit:

I think most of the Takao sister ships have disappeared. It kind of looks like a big run of the first and short runs of the other 3

I'm trying to not buy from outside Europe because of customs issues. It does cost a little extra money, but most importantly takes half a day of my time to go there. I hope that Maya 1944 and Atago 1942 will be done again.

Great review; thanx! I have the Maya kit. It doesn't appear to be _quite_ up to the standard set by Hasegawa on their Akagi and Nagato, but then again, it has no glaring f*ckups, either. Nothing that can't be fixed by several of the fine PE and PE/resin upgrade sets that are out there (for the Takao-class ships). Judging by what some have done with the 1/700-scale kits of this IJN series, there should be no excuse for not having an excellent final result with this 1/350 kit. Stephen

Hi everyone,

Thought it may be of interest to the one or other:

HLJ has a reissue of the Maya on preorder for a September release:

Hi Everyone,

It has been a while I wrote this review. Never the less, FlyHawk [Kit # FH350028] took the challange and currently (August 2011) offers a Link to them: MAYA Super Detail Set full of dedicated PE. I suggest enhancing the kit AA and fire control with Veteran Models parts to achieve an outstanding result.
