Yes, it's still on the workbench. After looking at Rui's work today, I decided to rework some of the details. I've added new bollards and the small radar on the sail. I'll add the splash screen after it's painted.

Hi Kenny

Glad that my work teased your motivation
You still have to add the bow antennae, right?

Also another tip, try to use a very dark gray (as a replacement for black) so that the wash (pure black) can enhance the hull details. That's what I am going to do with the Akula

Keep up the GOOD WORK
Rui

Kenny,

I just stumbled across this thread on your build. Cool! It is looking good! As a former Submariner that served on two Trident boats (Maine and Nevada), I am particularly interested.

So often, I've seen waterline models of modern US subs with too, much showing above the waterline. You are doing it right, here. The rudder should be an entirely separate piece mounted to the water base separately. I think that others have taken short cuts in their displays and didn't cut the models right, like you have.

What is the hull number of the Louisiana? I didn't know that there is such a boat but, I don't know everything.

Along with Rui's suggestion about color contrast............I have found that using Grimey Black by Polly S and then a darker Flat Black wash could work, in leu of a dark gray.

I have often entertained the idea of making a harbor diorama of the Delta Pier at Bangor, WA sub base or even a dio of the shipyard at General Dynamics Electric Boat Division in Groton, CT. Your work, here, reminds me of those ideas.

I, along with everyone else, am looking forward to the final result, here.

Hey Rui, I've already got her in a dark gray. And I will try to make the bow antenna.

Carl, the Louisiana is SSBN 743. She was the last Ohio class, the 18th. She was named the Louisiana because the LA was the 18th state admitted to the Union.

Kenny,

PIeces of the LA must have been around at the shipyard when I was on the Maine (741) during new construction and initial sea trials. I'm sure that I saw her and didn't know it.

Here's an update. I need to do some weathering and add the figures. I've got a good reference photo of a gangplank so I'll scratch build one of those. I do need to to add the rudder also.

Comments welcome.

The only thing left to do is to build the gang plank from the sub to the dock and replace one of the mooring lines.

The bridge complete with splash shield (?).

More views of the starboard side.

and an aerial view.

Looks Good Kenny

If I may poke you a little could you make a black wash over at the panels?
It would enhance the good work even better

Keep up
Cheers,
Rui
