Maybe I'm just slow, but anyway..... Lately the 350 scale kits i have been working on have tons of those real small pieces. Now I cut several out , put a spot of glue on the instructins and then seek out a tiny part to dip and stick. Well crap !!! Where did it go? My workbench at one time was white, but with paint spots etc...you know. So in order to find the pieces I got an old white plastic top from a margarine tub and cut the pieces out and place them there.
2 fold benefit. 1. the top is white so the parts stand out and 2. there are edges so the part doesn't roll away off the bench for the carpet monster.
