sea shadow 005
Hello there, I was about to file one of those submissions type of thing that describes building this model and the problems along the way, believe me when I say, I know nothing about computers, so I decided to plonk the whole thing here.
the bridge I spent little time in thinking about, either you'll see them or you won't sort of thing, the coloured dots and dashes you won't see, and placing a decal a complete waste of time.

While many will consider this 'not' correct, this is my ship and dark green she shall be.
both overhanging structures require support, I believe there hasn't been an aweful lot of common sense in drawing up the design for this model, unless of course you have 3 pair of hands, its far to flexing and as much as you try, its keeping the thing plumb and locked in while applying sticky tape.
Once I got over the fact I'm building a ship-o-war and not an aircraft, build time was about one and a half hours.

I am not sure what the Sea SHadow is? Is this the one from that James Bond movie? Anyway, look forward to seeing a completedmodel as so far it seems very intriging

Sea Shadow was an experimental stealth ship built by Lockheed in Redwood City, CA. It was mostly tested at night so many people did not even know it existed until the program had been going for a while and the Navy decided to lift the curtains on it.

I also have this kit in my stash to build someday. I think it will make a nice companion for the Revell (Germany) A90 Ekranoplan in my stash.

Yet another black book project, this originated from the 1980's. The Sea Shadow is an experimental stealth ship designed by the US Navy, Lockheed and DARPA ( Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency). The Sea Shadow was ordered in 1982 to examine the applicability of stealth technology on naval vessels as well as a test bed for automatic on-board systems to reduce the number of crew members.
She was operated only at night to keep it a secret. In 1994 the Sea Shadow was revealed to the public and is currently available for donation to a maritime museum. The knowledge gained with the Sea Shadow is currently used to develop the next generation of combat vessels for the US Navy.
This is the Revell 1-144 model of that ship, a fast build, and sadly very poor decals due to the age of this model, when it arrived today, the first thing I noticed was that the instruction sheet had in fact yellowed.

AND!!!

If you can provide a proper place to show the ship, you can have it! The Navy is looking to give the Sea Shadow away. Of course there are tons of regulations for anyone who gets it to follow, but imagine having your very own 1:1 warship!

No decals at the moment, although very much now completed I rather like the dark green as to the suppose dull black surface (only operated at night situation), the kit itself only used a small amount of filler, I believe due to flexing of soft long plastic pieces, a new model would perhaps have smaller, over-lapping pieces securing better joints and no need for filler (dream on) this was a very easy kit to build, as for the decals, maybe I'll give it a go ?

Looking more like a Klingon bird of prey out of Star Trek then a state of the art ship of war, I was just wondering if this huge 1-144 scale was also produced in other scales (apart from 1-1)

It sure would look good parked next to the Alabama in Mobile bay or maybe the Texas down near San Jacinto

With decals that disintegrated before my eyes, I nevertheless went ahead against my better judgement and applied them, slight silvering no matter how I applied, the water stain sadly also stayed on the finished surface, still, my little boy was happy enough to recieve it as a new toy.

I think the modelers of the Kitmaker network should pool our money together to get a nice dock for the Sea Shadow and operate her. What a perfect place to hide our huge model stash from SWMBO!
