Apologies if this should be in the "references" section, but I wanted to get the word out and this is the most-traffic'd area. I was able to confirm that Hazegray.org has an infection and wanted to warn people but also explain a bit. I'm trying to coordinate notifications, etc., and get this valuable reference safe for everyone.
The infection ONLY affects people who go to Hazegray via search engine; if you have it bookmarked or type the address in it will get you to the main page free of problems and safely. This is a method used to make the webmaster think their site is fine when they receive reports of problems (what webmaster ever searches for their own site?).
The infection ONLY redirects you; hazegray is not "personally" infecting your machine. Right now, it's going to another hacked system, which tries to scare you into installing fake anti-virus/spyware; this can be avoided by hitting the escape key and "back" a couple of times.
So, if I can put in a plug for a good site; if you haven't already bookmarked/favorited Hazegray, you should

It's one of the earlier web sites devoted to US Navy ships & History. In many regards it has been eclipsed by other sites, but it is still a good container of information.
