I am really looking forward to when you start painting her John. That brings all the detailing together so it's going to be a real looker !
cheers,

Hi Julian,

Looking forward to that point as well - going to be long time coming though, there's a huge amount of detail to be added to the bulkheads...

Cheers Julian.

After many failed attempts and much swearing, I've finally got a structure for the aft mast that I like although it still needs a bit tweaking to make sure it sits level and vertical, apologies for the bad lighting:

Work on the aft mast continues and I have to admit I'm really rather pleased with it so far:

My second GMM New Jersey PE set arrived today (courtesy of the superb service from WEM, ordered late on Tuesday night, delivered on Thursday...) so I've got loads of railing to be able to crack on...

Three views of where I am with the superstructure so far - apart from the turrets, all the work so far has been done here. Nothing is glued down yet with everything being treat as a sub assembly, I'll start glueing once each assembly is complete.

Cheers Julian,

More work around the stern, starting with the doors for the Nixie decoys:

Helicopter deck and 'hanger' for the RPVs:

I realise that, if such a structure was to be built there would be some concern over blast damage from the 16" guns but, what the heck

A bit more progress - I wasn't happy with the original extension for the lower part of the bridge so this has been rebuilt and I've been adding yet more PE to the fire control tower as well as starting adding all the missing detail, doors, portholes etc to the bulkheads:

Immaculate work as always John, really beautiful how you work with the PE. I'd give an arm and a leg to be able to work like that.
cheers,
Julian

Cheers Julian.

Detailing of the weather deck bulkheads continues with PE and scraps of plastic strip:

It's not 100% accurate to the New Jersey but this is a refit after all. Anyway, the bulkheads are starting to look a lot busier...

Progress continues at my typical glacial pace. I'm still adding details to the weather deck level bulkheads but I am working on other parts of the superstructure at the same time so here's a tour down the starboard side and then back up the port side:

The extension to the lower bridge still needs some work but the whole thing is starting to look a lot busier...

Lots going on amidships:

View looking forward that shows my 3rd attempt at rebuilding the helicopter control room which still needs a roof:

And now back up the port side:

Loads still to do obviously and I still need to find a way to replicate the loudspeakers that appear all over the superstructure...

Been ages since I posted anything on this one so here's where I'm up to now...

Turrets have been painted and a flag added to the roof of turret 1. Scaledecks wood deck has been applied, some paint has gone on although the hull sides still aren't finished:
