I've finished my project but I need some help. I would like for y'all to critique this build for me please. I'm a bit rusty and need to know where I need to improve.

It looks pretty big compared to what seems to be a keyboard in the background, (1/50th or even 1/35th ?).
The demarkation line between the dark and light grey on the inside of the righthand barrel, ( seen from inside the turret), isn't sharp enough. You would also appear to have a drop of something, (glue?), on the right hand side of the turret top. Apart from that it's a nice looking build of a US Navy twin 5" turret, ( okay, I confess: I read the base ).
Cheers,
Julian

The paint / ? spot on top as mentioned. Also looks rough like excess putty along bottom edge of front. NOw I would like 10 of them in 350 scale

Hi Kenny,

My euro 0.02

- Painting/weatheringwise you did a splendid job - I assume that the 'splotches' and 'scratches' are intentional to show a weatherworn turret... they look very convincing

- The only (minor) point of critique for me is the painting of the barrels. The dividing line between them is pretty sharp, but neither a straight line nor wavy, which in comparison to the rest of the turret looks a bit off. I presume a straight line was intended. As if you masked the barrels, but some of the paint leached under the tape.

To me, the last point became really noticable for two reasons: the zoom photos and the high quality and the very straight lines dividing the two colours elsewhere on the turret.

Of course, take it for what it is worth, for I still have to finish my first model in some 15 years...

Cheers,

Harm

Well, like the 7th of Cavalry, here's my 2 cents worth opinion

- Apart from what have been said about the barrel paint job, there's also a very hard line of paint accumulation between the dark/light color on the barrels, making it almost a seam (you can solve this with very fine grit sandpaper, just two or three passes);

- The circular wooden deck base, could have a 360º strip all around, painted black (I think that it would make it look more professional);

- Some vertical strokes of color variation could even enhance the good job you have done Kenny, just to break the uniformity of the dry brushing... you can use filters, or oils (white, raw humber)

BZ on a good subject, Kenny

Hi Kenny,

At that scale, I suspect you could have included the large screw heads that were very prominent on those mounts, as seen here aboard MISSOURI:
