Thanks Mark, evil little thing isn't it. The after market brass barrels and the Eduard PE work wonders here compared to the plain OOB parts.

April 16th update: Build is approaching the final stages now. I have fitted the first deck railings with safety nets. The liferafts have been fitted to their racks as well. The loading practice machine is nearly ready and the two depth charge racks are painted and await final fitting:






two more 5" turrets to go so back to the grindstone...............

and as far as the colours are concerned, they do look the part to me (a casual observer).

Honestly, I have to say the 5" guns just look odd - a single barrel from a turret. Somehow a double barreled turret looks 'better'

Hi Harm, thanks. The Lifecolor USN color sets make life a bit easier
The single gun turrets do look wierd. The Gearings looked much more impressive with the twin gun mounts. This is a bit like someone missing a front tooth

Yes Mark, I did. e-mailed the US of A and was informed that there was a minimum number of reels of thread to an order, (the minimum would have lasted me to the ripe old age of about 160 ). They did give me the adresses of two dealers in the UK so I will be trying them, (havent gotten round to that just yet ).
The Chevy just needs one piece of railing fitted and a quick wash on a couple of details and I call her done. Does look the piece for me

Hi Kevin, thanks mate, glad you liked the build. It's the Kearsarge up on the wall that you see. I built the Alabama when I was training to be a merchant naval officer way back in the 70's. I ran into a reissue of the Kearsarge a couple of years ago and couldn't resist buying it. The molds are worn out and the model was more flash than anything else. Took a lot of work to get her looking like a ship
