Hello Boris:
Looking quite good thus far. The weathering is really a nice touch. Not overly done but nice. Too bad you didn't have the photo's before you undertook the Island. During the Korean war, the Island was quite different than WWII. As you wrote, you would be better off depicting it as it appeared during that conflict vice Korea. There were some Essex Class carriers that retained the original configuration, but they were the long nose Essex and they did have some alterations between the wars. Yours is looking quite nice.
Best
Mark

Very nice work Boris. I believe you had a question about the arrestor cables, I would use some fine wire to replicate them. You can attach them straight to the deck if you are not modeling her recovering aircraft. When a carrier recovers aircraft, the cables are usually 6 to 8 inches off the deck so that the hook can catch it.
Thanks !
Thanks on the info! will keep that in mind for future builds!

Yeah, I know the configuration is not correct, but had to accept it at some moment to be able to finish the build after two years....
I did not have the knowledge nor resources to be able to build it with a 100% correct configuration.
Anyway Im glad the way it turned out!

Beautiful build Boris,
every time I see a well executed carrier build I tell myself to build one of my own but I never seem to get around to it.
Fantastic work sir!,

Thanks Russel!
Im sorry to tell you I wont be building any ship for the coming 1,5-2 years for sure due to other projects and abroad studies. But a real Battleship is something I would love to build one time....

Boris,
Very nice build and I'm glad that all your photos still show up considering you started this back on 2011. I have the same kit and I was thinking about selling it to support getting AM stuff for modern carriers, but after looking at how well yours came out I just might have to consider keeping it and build it some day. Of course, I'll have to grab some PE for it.
Well, thank you for sharing your work and keeping your pics posted.
