Greetings fellow modelers! Been working on this little gem for a few days and thought I'd post my progress. I started with the hull. Fit problems with the upper/lower hull, so sanding sticks to the rescue:

Masked and painted the deck and deck stripes:

Masking of the camo pattern:

Deck mounted, washed, and details picked out by brush:

Next up the gun turrets. The first turret took about 4 hours to assemble ,paint, and wash:

Here is the turret mounted. Various small details were also fitted on the deck:

That's it for now, but there's much more to come. Thanks for lookin' and comments/critiques always welcomed! Happy modeling!
Mark

Hello Mark,
Looking real good from what I see.
Thanks for sharing. Please keep doing the updates. I am interested in this ship as it was sunk by a air to surface missile the very first one , I think.
Cheers,
Bruce

Greetings fellow modelers! Just a small update tonight. I got the two remaining turrets painted and washed, but not cleaned up or dry brushed yet:

Here they are sitting on the hull:

As they were drying I began to assemble the superstructure and stacks:

Here's everything sitting on the hull;

That's it for tonight.More to come!

Hello Mark,
Looking great, Thanks for your update.
what timeline are you going to build her for, prewar, 1941-late 1942 or surrender in1943? Just wondering.
Cheers,
Bruce

That looks great !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been begging/praying for this ship for a long time. If this is 700, I thnk the 350 will be magnificent. i have mine on pre-order with Freetime. Your paint work is most impressive.

Greetings fellow modelers! Thank you for your replies - it's been a while since I last posted. Life sometimes comes first before modeling unfortunately, but I'm back at it again - WooHoo!! Moving on to the superstructure:

I started the rigging as well:

Here it is fitted to the hull:

Well that's it for tonight - more to come! Thanks for lookin' and happy modeling!

Would you post a list of the colors you used. The camo colors specifically. I can figure the white & decktan, but the red, blues and greys would be of great value to me.

Greetings fellow modelers! Thank you all for your replies and encouragement on my little journey.
Mr max - I use UNI-Canais fly tying thread for my rigging. You can get it from jsflyfishing.com. It's strong, super thin, comes in various sizes and colors, and it is only a couple dollars a spool.
Blaster76 - I use Model Master enamels. Light sea Gray overall, Panzer Gray for the darker shade, Intermediate Blue for the decks, and Dark Tan for the wood deck base. These colors are only the base coat I start with - I apply washes and dry brushing which greatly changes the hues of the original paint. It's really experimentation - I keep at it until I get the color I'm after.
Well, she's all done:

I really had fun with this kit! In fact, I'm diving right in on this baby tonight:

Another WIP to follow soon! 1/350th this time! Thanks for lookin' and happy modeling!
Mark

Great work Mark, love the detail you have achieved. I'm waiting on the Littorio but may get the Roma, and Vittorio Veneto as well when it's released.
