I'm late to the party, but I'm glad all you photos are still up. Daniel, your Fletcher Class Destroyer is totally awesome. I like the wavy/ripple body effect on the bottom part is totally awesome. Was that applied to the full body? TIA

Thank you friend Mike!! Already I had forgotten the enterteining thing that was this project Fletcher. yes, the effect " tin of oil " is in the whole hull. I did it with a curved leaf of razor knife. Luck with your Destroyer

The oil canning and the hull weathering still knock me out. A brilliant build that I am still very jealous of

We both ran into the same problem with the Fletcher: If you use Eduards PE depth charge racks you end up with empty racks unless you scratch a lot of DC's. I didn't

And I chickend out of doing the oil canning, you didn't
That is why I consider your build better, along with the best hull weathering I have seen in a long time

Hi Daniel

Located Julians build I think.

Daniel what was your opinion on the Eduard PE set?

Which set was it the Big Ed set?

What other after market sets did you use?

Cheers

Thank you Daniel. I am sure it was fun..a lot of work but fun indeed. One more question if you don't mind..do you remember what was the size of the square of the tin of oil effect? TIA

Amazing model Daniel. Those awards are well deserved!

I hate to nitpick, but I assume you're representing a dry-docked ship? The streaking runs vertical below the waterline, which I don't think would be correct.

But who am I to question the master!

Jejeje Thank you my friend. Really I do not remember the measure, calculate a relation on a royal photo and the identical numeral .... this is aprox 0,9 cm x 1,8 cm of high ..... but it is not the same measure in the whole hull!!! And on having scratched with the scalpel this measure it goes away to.....

Regards Daniel ......And remember that I want to see your advances!!!

Can you describe how you achieved the chipped effects on the side of the hull and beneath the waterline? Did you paint the chips or use some other technique like a sponge, chipping fluid, hairspray, etc.?

It looks like Salt weathering process, but I could be wrong.
