Thanks for the comments Gents. Warren I had to cut the Strips to length. The GMM set gives you 2 Lengths of Strip but you get plenty of it. Sends you mad doing it so I do a little at a time to keep me sane. When done I shall leave them shiny for the contrast. It's labour intensive but I am happy with the results so far. Glad when it's done then I can start on the rest of her.....Cheers Mark

Ok. After a bit of burnout and work related stress forcing me to change Jobs, I am back into her again. All the Brass Deck Strips are now in place so the earnest built may now start. More to come shortly.....Cheers Mark

Looks really good Mark, progressing nicely. Sorry to hear that things in the real World are causing some problems. Watch out for yourself and your health, I ended up with heart problems I still have and a burn out that took a year to climb out of after a couple of years of prolonged stress at work. It really wasn't worth it looking back now, great thing hindsight mate

She look really great, Mark. Well done so far. I've not yet attempted one of Aroshima's kits, but you have certainly given me the bug to get my hands on one. Great looking build.

Must be a Brisbane thing re the work. I had to find a new job last year as well.
Those strips look very good. I am sure the Japanese were so confident at that stage of the war that they weren't worried about dulling them down.

Agreed Warren. Had to give the Sailors something to do. Ok back into her. The Stacks were a woeful fit as you can see from the Sanded Putty along the normal seam Lines. The only thing that fitted well was the P/e. More to come soon.....Cheers Mark

That must have left you boss-eyed and with your tongue hanging out of your mouth. Excellent work though mate, nice and clean and will look even better when sprayed.

Good work Mark.
I have the Chokai retake at home waiting to enter the dry dock, but I have quite a few projects ahead of it.
Keep at it mate.

Main Armament is now done. Instead of using the Kit Parts, I use Resin, P/E and Brass items from Voyager. They make the world of difference in Detail and crispness. Here they are mounted on the Hull. More to come soon.....Cheers Mark

Difficult to judge the detailing and crispness from the photos Mark, will need some paint to show that off. An impressive gun battery though

Agreed Julien. That Resin Colour is not the best to show the Detail. Forward Superstructure is now finished. Anyone wanting to build this Kit needs to have a lot of Putty and Elbowgrease. More to come soon.....Cheers mark

Gets better and better, are those etched canvas dodgers around that observation deck? be able to paint them white for contrast if thats correct. Triple A mounts look good with the seats and training wheels.

the paint job makes a world of difference Mark, looks good. Will you be doing an oil wash on the superstructure? The range finder tower when seen from astern bears an uncanny resemblance to the mast on Britains newest HMS Daring.
Keep up the good work and keep the pics coming,
cheers,

Seems that you are heading into the home straights on this build

I just love the unusual design quirks of Japanese warships: the forward stack is straight out the "Thunderbirds" and about half way along the ship there seems to be a private basketball court for the captain. I just might get tempted to build one of these myself.
Cheers,
julian

Thanks for the comments Julien. If you want to build one, you have been warned. Have plenty of putty on for the Kit and Alcohol for yourself.........
