HI Craig!
Wonderful work on the weathering and shading! That Measure 1 can be a real challenge but you've got it looking real.

Great stuff Craig,
The more I look at builds of that kit, the more I am tempted to build it.
Getting the box past the CinC might be a dicey job though.

Really nice job Craig, she is coming along nicely. I have a question. Do you, or anyone else, know what that small house, on top of the superstructure, between the rangefinders is? It looks like some thing you'd see more on a modern Carrier rather than an old BB.

I looked in my limited supplies of USS Arizona refrence material, and I cant find out what that structure is, I would think its some sort of observation/directing station...but your guess is as good as mine...craig

Looking good f18fixer just picked up mine after seeing it in a hobby shop. Are you using PE and other extras can you give me some pointers on what to start first? Is that a real wooden deck or did you paint it? I looked online for a wooden deck but alot of money considering i just spent $200 on the model. So any help and pics thanks.

My wonderful wife bought me the White Ensign P/E set for the kit, thats the only after market stuff I have used...The deck was painted by me.
Its up to you, but I thought I could do a good job painting the deck without going after market...Thanks for the comments..I sure have enjoyed the kit..Im in no hurry to finish I just keep going little by little.
I hope you post pics of your build, and good luck

I just got the kit today. Last year Squadron had it on show special for $100. I hemmed and hawed and didn't go with it. Then I saw a build log on her and waas blown away by all the detail. Well this year at the show saw one for sell by a vendor. Offered $100 and he took it. I know I will pick up a wood deck. Don't know about a detail et yet. Have to look into it a bit and see wht yo7u get and what you have to do to use it. (cutting up stuff and the like). Might get around to it in 5 years or so....yea I have that big of a back log.....lol

Hi Steve!
A detail set is a must for this scale, so I recommend budgeting for one in the next five years. As for the deck, I saw a competed 1:200 Arizona at a LHS with the wood deck and I couldn't help but notice the actual wood's natural grain pattern spread across all the scale "planks". Perhaps it's a trade-off, but I'll stick to painting a wooden deck instead.
Good luck plowing through the backlog!

Hey Karl.
That must have been one of the el cheapo decks as a good deck doesn't have this problem. I have used many lately snd none of them have had that problem.
Doing a great job Craig.
I was an F-18 fixer for about 7 years as well.
I also have the 1/200 Arizona and White Ensign PE sets in the stash. I have a few more in front of it but it is rising to the top of the stash.
Keep at it mate

Hello Craig, She looks beautiful. I love that you "water-lined" her. I always thought Arizona looked kinda tubby full hull, you did the old girl proud.

I got the Artwox deck for mine and it looks out of this world. I don't know what kind of glue they use on those things but be very very careful, once it's down it is down! You could build a real battleship with that glue! I got lucky with the first one and I'm planning on putting down the rest in the next few days, maybe peel off a little of the backing at a time as I lay it down. I had to re-paint my entire hull this weekend, don't ask, but it's coming together very nice. Painting mine the same colors as yours but my gray will be a little darker, using Tamiya German Gray strait from the bottle
