Hi Michael, Many thanks, I have discovered HMS Enterprise carried a Hawker Opsrey, serial K5749, and AZ models produce an Osprey floatplane, so I am in
Unfortunately no kits of ship herself, which is a shame, and I am not up to the scratchbuild, at least not in the timescale of the campaign.

Si,
I understand completely, the Osprey should be cool enough!

I've been reading a bit about CV-6, and I think now, rather than a wooden ship, I will look at modelling CV-6, or rather a deck display area for some of my model planes.
In 144th scale, the deck would be 5'7" long and 7 inches wide. I think I could manage to scratch build a 20"x6" diorama including the conning tower and mid ship elevator.
maybe a bit more than is visible here:

Jonathan,
That's quite the plan, I look forward to it!
As long as everyone's declaring already, I might as well say that it's my plan to build my 1/350 Big E. I have the Trumpy kit, Nautilus conversion set and deck, and Tom's brass. The reason I added the 10% started clause in the rules is because I've already glued the top and bottom hull halves together, poured some resin in the bow and did some reshaping to make it look more like the real thing. We'll see if I can actually follow through this time.
We have 13 enlistees already so things are shaping up well!

Now that's a big project.
Good thing it's a year long campaign.

Greetings Michael!
I only have the Tamiya 1/350 Enterprise in my stash. I went ahead and "tentatively" Enlisted contingent upon finding room in the house for the monster when she's done!!
I hope that's alright with the Powers That Be! I'll make a firm decision before the Campaign officially begins. Would an Air Group need to be finished, also, to consider her completed for the Build's sake? Just curious, as this will help plan for time allotments.
Thank you,
Daniel Chavez

Daniel,
I wouldn't think an entire air wing would be necessary. Perhaps a few representative birds would be good. Hope you decide to join us!

Hello... I would like to join, even thoughI dont have a "ship" E...
I have Academy Space Shuttle 1:288th scale, a very simple build
I can add 1:48 HobbyBoss TBM-3 Avenger Torpedo Bomber (No 66, VT(N)-90, USS Enterprise)
and maybe add this to the stash once it comes out:
1/700 Dragon Cyber Hobby USS Enterprise CVN-65 1969

The History of Enterprise on Modelshipwrights
Wished I could take part but time is tight next year.
Kind regards

Hi Michael!
I've had a somewhat crazy idea kicking around my head for the last few days. CVN-65 is just waaaaay to big for our 3 bed/1 bath, 950 sq. ft. home. I AM going to build her, but I'll have to hold off until my 17 year old daughter heads off to college. I've already claimed her room as MINE when she moves out. I announced it to everyone and licked the doorknob!!
OK. I didn't lick the doorknob, but I DID announce my Claim!
I was reading the links regarding the Enterprise...and so it began.
All of my ships are 1/350 scale. I do have a USS Hornet and I just bought the Yorktown/Enterprise Conversion Kit. However, Michael has staked out the same kit and conversion and, honestly, I'm a YORKTOWN fan!
I have the aforementioned CVN-65, but, well, size matters in this case!
So, no going in that direction.
SO! I've never tried this before, but I'm seriously considering scratch-building the 1799 USS Enterprise! She'll be pretty small, but I think it would be fun. She's the perfect starting point for US Navy subjects and will make a GREAT comparison next to the CVN-65 when I'm able to get her built.
I'll start collecting whatever materials and references I can find in December. I have to finish up the RM Pola, USS Katahdin, USS Wyoming, and a few subs and smaller combatants first. Also, this will allow me more time to conitnue on the Prinz Eugen build, which means a great deal to me!
Best wishes to all!
Go hug your family!!

Daniel: That sounds very cool! I look forward to your model. If you want to do the Big E using the same plan as me, I have no problem with that. But I understand your loyalty to Yorktown, a truly heroic ship.
Bruce: I have threads going (and interest building) at AeroScale and Model Geek as well. That's what I love about KitMaker, the chance for all of us to get together!

@Daniel, you can get a Star Trek Enterprise (TOS and A refit) in 1/350. Might look nice next to your fleet though it won't do anything for your running out of space situation. I have a simular situation so I build in 1/700 for my ships and 1/72 for my tanks.
I am going for the Enterprise NCC-1701C in 1/2500 for this campaign. I meant to do the 1701B but I got impatient

Our campaign has taken on added poignancy with the end of the career of the first nuclear powered aircraft carrier, USS Enterprise CVN-65, scheduled for March, 2013. It will be sad to have no Enterprise in the Navy's inventory.

I may have to change my build. I have a sneaking suspicion that the Hanukkah elves are bringing me a certain large starship that fits within our theme here. This could be impossible to pass up!

Love those Hanukkah elves!!

Ain't it great when your kids grow up and get jobs and you don't have to expect clay molds of their hand prints as gifts any more?
The final frontier awaits!
