Hello everyone,I'd really like to try and build a ship model, but i have no idea how to pick it.

I can spend around 80$ and i'd prefer for it to be a warship.

Any suggestions are more then welcome.

Kind regards,Sven.

Hi Sven

I'd recommend a destroyer in 1/350 scale. The scale is well detailed, the destroyer is not too large and the parts aren't as tiny as 1/700. Tamiya's Fletcher is an easy kit but if you want railings etc. you'll have to buy a PE set (e.g. from GMM).

Cheers!
Stefan

Dragon has several destroyers in 1/350 that have good details and some extra goodies. Their warship instructions are better than their armor instructions. AFV club makes some nice subs. Is there a particular time period you are interested in?

Thanks for suggestion,I'd prefer WWII.
I currently have this submarine in my stash,is it any good?
It is the Tamiya I-400 submarine.

Kind regards,Sven.

I would guess it is like other Tamiya kits and goes together well. Aoshima is another brand to look at for WWII. What I have seen of their products is well made and detailed. There are reviews at Finescale and this one at Modelingmadness http://modelingmadness.com/review/misc/ships/previews/78019.htm.

Tamiya makes good models. The I-400 is a good kit.

Thanks for replys, I will use the I-400 as the first kit then.
I can still spend 80$ for aftermarket, any suggestions on that?
I see that few companies make aftermarket; eduard, voyager and tamiya by itself.
No clue which one to choose,or if there is another one that is better?

Kind regards,Sven.
