Just wondering if there were other grays used late war other than the real dark Kure gray. Just started my ISE andfathe sheet shows a medium gray on it. I have been using a real dark gray on the last 2 I did (Kongo and Nagato)

The gray depends on the yard, really. Aside from Kure Gray there was Sasebo and Yokosuka.... they were similar, but the Japanese didn't have the same standards as the US, so each yard's was different enough to be noticeable if you had them next to each other. Best way to figure out which ships were painted what is to piece it together from their respective CombinedFleet TROM (Tabular Record of Movements) or by a book that John Snyder put out that I'm having a hard time finding on his site... I'll prod him to come here and help.

and the answer to the final jeopardy question is where was Kure...where the Ise was reconfigured to the hybrid carrier/battlship..so the color is
