Hi Guys thanks for your kind comments.
I appreciate you putting up pics of your accommodation build, I need all the help I can get.
Interpreting plans is always subjective and as I said I have the advantage of having worked on ships.
Don't forget Al that it was your build that inspired me both to return to modelling and build the MAS boat for which I thank you,
Cheers Kev

So now I had to build it...

Well cant put it off any longer the new airbrush comes out tomorrow (make sure your phone is charged Dan ;o))
I've decided that due to Italian panache the cockpit furniture has to be mahogany I don't care if it is war time, they would have found the wood some where. Plus I think it will look good!!
While waiting for something to dry I started to try and make the helmsmans grating and discovered what may be a novel way of doing it ;o)
You will see from the pic that I laid out the grid, drilled a hole the size of the finished square. Then using a small square needle file I made the round hole square....proving what I've always believed a square peg will fit into a round hole

and just to prove it does not always go right here is one I made earlier (flaglocker in case you cant guess) ;o)

Thanks for looking

Hi Guys,
Been no posts of late because of the real world getting in the way of modelling

Have been doing a few bits and pieces....
Learning to use airbrush...
Gluing and filling parts of the kit
Wasn't happy with ladder into engine room

The wheelhouse steps will be in full view so....I wanted something a little more realistic, I hope you agree with my efforts.
Left is the kit part, the elevation I have indicates steps rather than a vertical ladder.
Middle is one of the variations I came up with.
Right is I feel the dogs bits, found a pic in a reference book.

Propped in position

Some mahogany furniture has arrived and been installed along with electrical sockets/switches.

Thanks for looking....

Don't ya just hate it when that happens! Wheelhouse looks terrific, especially the woodwork. I also like the ladder, much better than the kit part. Kudos on a fine build.

Beautiful detail Kev, glad to see you used white and grey for the chart instead of the modern yellow, white and blue. The wine is an excellent touch, hope they had the sense to choose a Bardolino DOC

Not sure if it is 100% accurate but no one on-lime complained.....

I got the idea for the steel body and bronze/brass tail from a photo I found on line Kev, as I mentioned I am not sure it's accurate for the MAS but it does add some visual attraction.
There are arguably more photos around of all steel body torpedoes though so as Daniel pointed out you can more or less do your own thing.
Out of curiosity Kev: what did you use to make your signal flags?

Julian, Thanks for the info, I hear what you say and will probably go down that route.
You know what its like, sometimes you get the bit between your teeth and you want/need to know more...

I'm waiting for some bits to dry so I thought I'd get on with the wardroom/radio room today

The cubicle on the right is the head (WC) and no I'm not going to fit it out....

This shows the settee in front with a bunk above and behind.

This side is another bunk and radio space on left.

The start of a table

Thanks for looking
