Well its been a while since my last post but I've been playing with paint to achieve a wood finish that I was happy with . . .

Its supposed to represent a damaged hull being repaired, showing the diagonal planking . . .

Thanks for looking hope you like it.

Ta for your comments Julian.

Cheers Kev

Just a small update but a big step forward for me Photoetch . . .

Managed to put together the magazine holders using a combination of solder and superglue.

No bits broken and no loss of temper but it was a close run thing. How the hell you guys work at 1/350 or 1/700 I shudder think, Must be where the term headbangers came from

Try getting hold of Gator Grip glue from our regular "glue dealer" Kenny Loup. Magic stuff Kev, can help take a way a lot of stress
One of the fancy "Hold and Fold" PE torture tools can be a big help too.
I would also recommend a "Creme Brule" chef's torch for anealing the PE, ( hope I spelt that correctly).

Hey Kev, posted earlier but I see it did not take. Just wanted you to know that I have been watching your build and find it very exceptional. All the detail you have worked into this kit is just mind blowing. I like how you put your lighting inside and the main cable from the shack to the boat is great. The peeled paint around the new wood is fantastic, it came out real good. I had opened the engine room on my Vosper and put in a light bar across with 2 bulbs inside. Problem is I can't remember what size the mini bulbs are and I don't want to blow them out. When you add lighting for the interior it looks great and brings the viewer into it with all the detail you have done. Sitting in the cradle on the dock is very original and your craftmanship shows. Absolutly one of the best water dio's I have seen. Looking forward to more of your splended work. bob d.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your encouragement!

Got to say as I approach the conclusion of this build I'm well and truly hooked - can't remember the last time I had so much fun with my clothes on

The intention is to try the Airfix 1/72 Vosper tarted up with the Coastal Craft fittings

http://www.coastalcraftmodels.com/pdf/pricelist/Coastal%20Craft%20Price%20List%20Nationals%202013%20-%20BT012-040%20CC%20flier%20A5%204pp.pdf

A) To practise my photo etch work B) To see if I can work in a smaller scale How you guys work in the micro scales I beyond me.

Then it could be the crazy project

http://modelshipwrights.kitmaker.net/forums/219042&page=1

Bob would it be worth trying your bulbs with one battery, then another until they light, that will give you the min voltage.

Thanks for looking

Good morning Kev, your up early Your project is not that crazy actually. You have set me thinking about the Airfix 1/24th scale Typhoon that will be released sometime this year. The model is packed with details and removing parts of the wings and fuselage will allow the details to be seen
No, good idea for an interesting project

Hi Julian,

" Your project is not that crazy actually. "
I think I'll frame your quote and hang it above my bench ;o)

The typhoon, would that be the one I saw at Telford?
If so its a beauty ! The detail was fantastic, was almost tempted . . . no got to many projects in my head now

A cut away of that would be fantastic. We could form the cut away club lol.

Awesome work Kev.
Not sure how this build has slipped by me and tonight was the first time I've seen it. Had a good read of all the pages.

Looking forward to seeing more.
Stephen.
