I picked a bottle of Testor's Hull Red enamel. The paint looks too purple/brown in color. When I was in the Navy I remember the anti-fouling a dark red when applied. Anyone use Testor's paint?

The best match for me personally is WEM anti fouling red. #US14 = Norfolk 65A anti fouling red for WWII, #MO6 = modern US Navy. The WWII color is redder than the modern, which has more of a reddish brown. Looks like what I remember when ESSEX was in drydock in 1961-62.

Thanks for the information. For a moment there I thought my memory was starting to fail me. When I build a German ship I will have a bottle of hull red for it. Actually I wonder if it might work for the Emden I have in my stash. Didn't know modern hull red is darker than earlier paints. This is real good to know since I like to build older ships, usually prior to WWII.
